  • This was a case of right place at the right time. This picture doesn’t actually do the sunset justice. It had to be seen to be believed, and of course, I was with my cousin and not my Fiance!

  • Blue Heron wadding in the ocean shore I will donate 50% of all proceeds from the sale of this image and the ones below to the American Bird Conservancy —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- Consider these images as companions! / And the T-Shirt below

  • Two famous Australian icons: the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. This was a 30 second exposure shot from down near Mrs Macquarie’s Point. Shot at 40mm; f/10; 30sec; ISO100

  • The Icelandic Harvester. / / When I came across this old vessel moored to the pier my imagination started running wild with scenarios of what life aboard this wooden vessel would have been like. I could almost feel the sineous texture of the ropes as they hung there coated in the ice cold saltwater of the frigid North Atlantic Ocean. I could nearly hear the calls of the sailors as they shouted commands back and forth across her weather beaten decks as the waves crashed down upon her on any one of her numerous voyages. What sights must have been seen as sailors of old lined the rails to peer down at the mysteries of the sea. How many men were lost at sea and how many made it home with wild stories of his adventure aboard the Icelandic Harvester. / / Shot with a Canon 400D and processed in Lightroom 2. / / NautilusBlue / / nominated this image to be showcased in the group Pay It Forward and this is what she had to say… / / Ice Breaker / by Kevin Kroeker / I think it is an outstanding image with great composition ( great leading lines) with lots of drama and the colours are amazing . It shows us the harshness of the climate. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

  • This old and now unused grape harbor sits farther back beyond the old garden behind Swannanoa Palace. It is historical and beautiful and I though B&W suited this well. Virginia ©Tara Sheffer-Archie 2008 All rights are reserved.

  • Late evening shot of the Causeway to Granite Island, Victor Harbor.

  • Late evening sunset at the Causeway, Victor Harbor, South Australia. Canon 400D 18-55, HDR 3 shot worked in Photomatix.

  • Chatham Lighthouse Cape Cod. / Chatham Cape Cod / Framed Print: Card:

  • Late afternoon sun going down and standing on the reverse side of the Causeway to Granite Island South Australia. The light shining through under the structure from the setting sun was quite vibrant especially with the backdrop of a brooding winters sky. I know I have many images of this on my site but I just love the way it changes with every visit. Plus having my fathers ashes spread off the Causeway makes this a special place to visit. HDR merge of three images within photoshop.

  • Last light again, looking South from the Causeway at Victor Harbor along the Esplanade across the ocean. Quite dark and brooding but available lighting was troublesome here. Canon 400D, HDR and adapted in Photomatix 2.5. Best Viewed large.

  • The rising sun burns through a misty morning fog, making a ghostly image of shrimp boats at berth in Apalachicola, Florida, USA. Apalachicola is a lovely, historic, commercial fishing and tourism town on the Gulf of Mexico. Ghost Fleet won the monthly avatar challege in the group “Nautical.” Photographed with Fuji FinePix A205 (2 megapixels). Not recommended for prints larger than 11×14 inches (28×35 cm approx.)

  • Back to my favourite spot to catch first light reflecting off of the Causeway beams. As the sun rises this side of the Causeway is often highlighted, showing the features and grain of the timbers. The Causeway joins the Victor Harbor mainland with Granite Island. As many of you know this spot is a regular of mine as many years ago we followed my fathers wishes and spread his ashes alongside this structure, his favourite fishing spot!!! Quite a bold and stormy sky in the background for this one which seems to complement the foreground highlights. Canon 400D, HDR – 2 shot merge in Photomatix.

  • Early morning back at my regular haunt, the Causeway across to Granite Island at Victor Harbor – South Australia. Early morning shot with light patching through from the stormy skies. HDR 3 shot merged in Photomatix. Canon 400D – 18/55 lens.

  • MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER / 190 Comments,125 Favourites, 2956 Views / Sydney is great for sunrises, it quite often receives spectacular sunrises as it greets the sunrises that appear from the east. This shot shows the city skyline as seen from North Sydney CBD on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, in the foreground is Lavender Bay. Technique: HDR , 5 Bracketted images processed with Photomatix Pro with avery slight adjustment (sharpening & contrast) in Capture NX. Equipment: Nikon D300 , Nikon 18-200mm lens No filters or colour adjustment 1) RED SKY AT NIGHT… means that as the sun sets in the west, if it has a red hue or color to it, then the moisture was further west of their location. Thus SAILORS DELIGHT. A beautiful sunset. 2) RED SKY IN MORN…means that as the sunlight from the rising sun passes through moisture, it too will be red. This means that with the rotation of the earth, this will bring this moisture (and possible storm) right on top of them and it is only a few hours away. SO SAILORS TAKE WARN.” / I hope this bit of weather science helps.

  • This is a photograph of Seagulls that I captured off of the commercial fishing vessel that I work on in the Bering Sea, Alaska. It kind of looks a little crowded but they manage.

  • This is a photograph of what most of the mountains in Dutch Harbor, Alaska look like in mid summer. The green velvet like plantlife has replaced the stark white of the snow that covers the mountains in the wintertime.

  • Early morning sunrise view seen from the boat launching facility near the Bluff, Victor Harbor. A fisherman’s welcome to the day!!! Canon 400D 18-55 lens with CIR Polariser.

  • I got up early on Friday morning during my recent trip to South Australia. I was staying in Goolwa, only a couple of minutes drive from Victor Harbor, so I headed down there for some dawn photography.. very pleased with the results. Canon EOS 30D / EF-S 10-22 / ND8Grad / ND400 16mm, 82 seconds @ f10, ISO100 No photoshop other than leveling the horizon. All colours are real and achieved by changing the white balance in the camera. All comments appreciated - paul

  • A view of the Sydney Harbor Bridge and a morning sky as seen from Observatory Hill. / Observatory Hill is located in The Rocks area of Sydney and offers broad views of Sydney Harbor. / As the name suggests there is an observatory located just behind where I was standing. 3 Exp HDR (+2, 2 -2) / 4 Image Vertorama (vertical panorama) / Canon 350D / 18-55mm EF-S / ISO 100 / Tripod Mounted / Photomatix Pro, PS CS4, Lightroom 2

  • BETTER VIEWED LARGER A bit of fantasia, as the lights of Sydney are reflected in the waters of Sydney Harbour as boats lie at anchor inLavendar Bay on the north shore of Sydney Harbour. Equipment: Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200mm lens.Manfrotto Tripod / Technique: HDR 5 Braketted exposures. processed in Photomatix 3.2 and Nikon Capture NX

  • BEST VIEWED LARGER Thank you for your views, comments and favouritings / Right Spot – CHECK / No Boats – CHECK / Enough Cloud – CHECK / That Consistency to the Water – CHECK / Lights in varying colours – Check / Reflections on Water – Check / Run for the D300 and the tripod – DEFINITELY Caught a range of shots on this Friday morning reached my vantage point about 5.30am. I saw these reflections and ran for the camera. Sydney Harbour like a mill pond before the many vessels start their morning trips and disturbing it’s surface. The other factor is that look to the water surface that landscape photographers might know it’s like a oily look to the water that lends itself to wonderful reflective surface. It took many shots of Sydney Harbour this morning, if, and you should have seen the sunrise that followed . WAIT ! yes i have photos of that as well. Equipment: Manfrotto Tripod, Nikon D300 Nikon 18-200mm Lens / Technique: 5 Bracketted Exposures, Photomatix 3.2, Capure NX See Also / Right Place Right Time:
