FIRST TIME PUBLISHED / When I looked outside my restaurant in Broome I saw two cowboyheads sitting on the tables outside and I had a strong urge to make some photo’s. I spook to the two men they where from Fitzroy Crossing. They where watching a crowd of Indeginous Aboriginal men and women ‘hanging’ outside in the Plaza. They where waiting for the local liquorshop to open, In Fitzroy is now a ‘ban’ on alcohol, they told me, so Fitzroy Crossing is now a ‘dry’ Community Miss. / Broome, Western Australia. / Today I received an email stating; CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR IMAGE ‘TYPAN’ is one of 55 images from the PEOPLE & PLANET International Photo Competition. to be published in the 2009 People&Planet; Social Justice & Enviroment Diary, which will be published this month in Australia (2009). / We thought that your image was incredible, and it won from a pool of OVER 1000 images from 316 photographers from around the World! / All funds raised by the People&Planet diary go to Australia’s small non profit organisations which are working to promote social-justice and environmental substainability around the world. /

Title thanks to my husband… I was stumped and when I asked my husband for a suggestion for the title he said the daisies were natures beauty and shone amongst a gloomy winters day, which to him is the essence of winter. I Love Me as a greeting card design!! =D / In the background is the kanji “ai”, 爱 meaning love.. n_n” There are some of us, who took it upon ourselves to do things for others. to help others.. to make others happy.. but we forgot about ourselves! we forgot that we need to make ourselves happy too. we need to love ourselves too. if we don’t love ourselves, who’ll love us? i dedicate this to every one of you kind souls out there!! remember to always love yourself as well!! =D i especially thank Karin who kept reminding me that i am love-able as well. bad history and with the kind of people i’m surrounded by, i was made to believe that nobody will love me for everything that i am. am made to realise all my faults and bad points and weaknesses. made to believe am ugly and useless. having depression doesn’t help as i view myself as nothing more than a mental girl. i totally believe that it’s impossible for anyone to really love me. But Karin showed me otherwise. she made me answer and admit my pretty gd points.. and i realised.. hey!! i can be love-able?! am still trying to accept that now.. lolz.. it’s still kinda hard to accept, having been instilled those “i sux!” mindset for years… ahahahah.. XD Thank you, Karin!! GLOMPZ!!! fa: i had to force Tim to carry that signage cos he wouldn’t say the words!! stupid monster.. / Tim: it says I Love Me!! how can you love yourself!! you’re big, fat, ugly and you’re mental with me in your head!! / fa: awww.. i can love you too, can’t i~ XD / Tim: NOOOOOOOOOoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to try and communicate through art what it is like to live with a degenerating spine. I am not doing this for sympathy, but for the people who live as I do and the people that it affects in their world. It is not a pain that can be seen just by looking, as a broken bone is. Some of you know that I suffer from serious back issues. I have 7-8 herniated and/or ruptured discs in my back. To try and SHOW someone what this pain is like is very difficult. Mine has been an approximate 25 year progression. I have had 1 back surgery to relieve pressure off the sciatic nerve from the L5/S1 level. It had become so painful I could not walk without a cane at times. Sometimes the pain would come out of nowhere when I took a step and it was a lightning bolt shooting through me so hard I would fall. I have been in so much pain that I wished for death and if I had been able to walk and find the means I might have taken the out. Thankfully I could not walk = ) / My family has been so amazing in their care and concern for me and my grand children keep me motivated and smiling. I thank them all for their understanding… even if they didn’t really, they tried to. I am blessed to be a huge part of my grand daughter’s lives and it is the most precious gift anyone could ask for. It is difficult at times when René needs to be walked because she is teething or not feeling good. I lose feeling in my thighs at times and the pain in my lower back has been so bad I just cried silently until she was asleep and I could finally set her down. It makes my heart sad when Kolleen wants me to jump on the trampoline or run and play as these are things I must not do. However there are so many more positives with them. I get to be there for them in so many ways and when it’s all too much Sam and/or the kids help out until I am feeling better! So I thank God for all the help I am given, as well as still being able to contribute and feel needed. It has been my lifeline in so many ways.
