Took this at church on Easter Sunday (3-23-08). We had balloons and all the kids let go of one (or two!) and I got this (in my honest and humble opinion ;) ) awesome shot! This one is definitely my favorite out of the around 20 pictures that I took. I touched this up a little bit (there was a crazy lens flare/sun glare/whatever you call it and I vamped up the blues a little bit and added contrast) with Adobe Photoshop 7.0.
Day of the dead festival skull illustration – Hand drawn with brush, pen and ink. Digitally coloured.
The first snow had fallen and it was icy and “dangerous” in the forest but the crosses and saints remained “strong’ and “unchanged” in spite of the external harshness of the weather.

The Jewish new year starts this year, 2008, on the evening of September 29. / It is called Rosh Hashana in Hebrew (the head of the year). I wish you all, Happy new year, may all your wishes come true It is observed on the first day of Tishrei, the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar, as ordained in the Bible, in Leviticus 23:24. Rosh Hashanah is the first of the High Holidays or Yamim Noraim (“Days of Awe”), or Asseret Yemei Teshuva (The Ten Days of Repentance), the most solemn days of the Jewish year, which conclude with the holiday of Yom Kippur. Rosh Hashanah is the start of the civil year in the Hebrew calendar (one of four “new year” observances that define various legal “years” for different purposes). It is the new year for people, animals, and legal contracts. The Mishnah also sets this day aside as the new year for calculating calendar years and sabbatical (shmita) and jubilee (yovel) years. Rosh Hashanah commemorates the creation of man whereas five days earlier, on 25 of Elul, marks the first day of creation—OU on Elul / The Mishnah, the core text of Judaism’s oral Torah, contains the first known reference to Rosh Hashana as the “day of judgment.” In the Talmud tractate on Rosh Hashanah it states that three books of account are opened on Rosh Hashanah , wherein the fate of the wicked, the righteous, and those of an intermediate class are recorded. The names of the righteous are immediately inscribed in the book of life, and they are sealed “to live.” The middle class are allowed a respite of ten days, until Yom Kippur, to repent and become righteous; the wicked are “blotted out of the book of the living.”
