this tee is in response to the “shit happens” tees about the place. there’s a fatalistic apathy out there, a belief that something “bigger” controls the end game that makes me really wonder (in a growly kinda way)! i know the concept of free will is one of those big (and perhaps unwinnable) debates, but come on peoples the least you can do is act as though you are an active agent in your life and that what you do and say matters! end rant.

I can’t believe how much I’m enjoying a new computer program (Poser 6, $US30 till 31 Dec 2008) that lets you create digital mannequins. No more trying to organise models and pay exorbitant fees for them and the studios. I don’t even have to worry about expensive lights. I can now create caricatures … then shove them into Photoshop, dress ‘em up a bit, give ‘em the texture I want in Painter, and then put them back into Photoshop again to finish ‘em up again. Just love it. I struck a morose pose here by one accident after the other, and just continued the theme. It’s too cartoony to impress me as being serious. One day, I’d like to try that, maybe .... once I’ve learnt these software programs!! My aim is to learn like there’s no tomorrow. But this image inspired me to write. DYING EVERY DECADE …. By the age of 10, I barely knew what death was. / By the age of 20, I knew I couldn’t die. / By the age of 30, I knew I mightn’t live. / By the age of 40, I was surprised I’d survived. / By the age of 50, I was happy I’d survived and promised I’d do better for the next 50 years. / By the age of 60, I’ll be hoping they’re all wrong. My dear father died before he got to 60. / My very good friend Mario died before he got to 60. / My very good friend Colin died before he got to 60. He didn’t even make it to 50. / Many, many fellow aviators died far too young. / They all enjoyed life, and put into it as much as they could. / That’s all you can hope for. / Enjoy your life. / It’s not long, and it certainly isn’t permanent. / Even a teenager knows that. / Or maybe not. / So, enjoy life! / Now. Not later, nor in 10 years time. / Live like there’s tomorrow. / Because sometimes, there isn’t. / So, enjoy life! / Now. This image was photographed at the waterfront in the OLD TOWN of DUBROVNIK/CROATIA Judged by Tuck Leong at Melbourne Camera Club/open EDI/Highly Commended Death in Dubrovnik…............ well WHAT did happen to…..........BRITT LAPTHORNE this title has to do with the complexities of a missing girl…..... For those who live outside Australia you maybe interested to know that BRITT LAPTHORNE/ 21-year-old Melbourne woman went missing from a nightclub in the Croatian town of Dubrovnik on September 18. Her body was found many days later washed up near rocks not far from the city centre. Last year I was fortunate enough to visit this wonderful city of DUBROVNIK…...........I felt I had found paradise and had been told this was a most magical place to take photographs. And yes/ I had found paradise and started to wonder about the war here in ‘91 /Death in Dubrovnik…...and then I started to think about this beautiful young woman taken tragically away from her family. I walked the streets of the Old City and surrounds for nearly a week. The more I thought about her the more I wanted to find out about her and so sat in a local internet cafe and tried to read as much as possible about her. So this only made me think more about this young woman and how her family must have felt at the time .So then as I walked the streets every crack in the old walls /every crack in the pavement I photographed /I asked myself did she walk this way….........did she see the beauty I was seeing….... / This image was taken in Dubrovnok and is of the Fuego Latino Club where BRITT LAPTHORNE visited the night she died……..........well some locals say she did visit the club and some say she didn’t! These images were taken from a 4th fl. balcony overlooking the nightclub. I watched for about 15 minutes. It would be impossible for this young woman’s exit from the nightclub to go undetected by the camera. I wonder why Britt’s parents could not see their daughter exit the club when they watched the film footage from that night…...... / this image was taken at the small port in the OLD TOWN of Dubrovnik/this image is not meant to offend but something did happen to this young woman…...... .............sometimes we don’t know what we’re looking for….......this image was taken at a hotel on the outskirts of Dubrovnik. The puzzle and anguish of this mystery can be too much for a family to experience…......... I’m going to tell you what’s on my mind! / looking for answers

Today I ventured again into the blue forest in the early-morning mist, so full of unforseeable dangers and adventures. It proved to be another lucky day – all monsters had taken a day off!, and so I came home with a load of worthwhile pictures, happy that I had managed again to get up and out so early. To say the truth, I had to give myself a good push first, but when I looked out of the window and saw the mist, the blue world outside lured me irresistably to get on my bike again.
