  • A scene from Hanoi’s Old Quarter. This is a fascinating place and you could spend days just wandering through the maze of streets, eating endless bowls of ‘bun cha’ along the way. It was heavily overcast but the sun came out for just long enough to capture this scene.

  • Some pigs off to market – a common site in Northern Vietnam. The things these guys can fit on the back of a motorbike is quite staggering.

  • October 2007 – Markers, water colour & digital rendering. Album cover for a hypothetical re-release of Hanoi Rocks ‘Back to Mystery City’. Was going for a metal / glam’d up Dorothy Gale (Emerald City, key to momby’s heads etc). The illustration works as part of the theme carried throughout the packaging. This image works so that the right hand side is the front cover and the left wraps around to the back.

  • This little girl was waiting on the steps to the Opera House in Hanoi while wedding photos were being taken. Hanoi is very busy so she was lucky to have this little spot for a while! Unlike here, her parents actively encouraged every one with a camera (including me) to take photos of their young children. It was so refreshing! The Opera House is a very popular place for wedding photos and we saw two weddings in the half hour we were there. More photos of Vietnam
