this is one of the first photographs i ever took for artistc purposes….im afraid its such a low resolution because it was taken on my old old camera when i knew nothing about DPI and all that jazz / its so old in fact it even has the name blackcandi on it !......(my old username) but i thought id show some of my older work…and if anyone wants i am happy to redo this image in a high resolution / so if thats the case just give me a shout :)

German political philosopher, Hannah Arendt, has greatly influenced my thinking. Her work, The Human Condition and The Life of the Mind are two favorites. She wrote, ““No cause is left but the most ancient of all, the one, in fact, that from the beginning of our history has determined the very existence of politics, the cause of freedom versus tyranny.” Arendt fled Europe with the rise of the Nazis, eventually settling in New York City. Featured in Group – Vintage and Gorgeous – March 2009 Model: Hannah Rae A Ship’s Captain It started as a plan. It was an escape plan. The ideal escape to isolation. Then he found her. It would be more appropriate to say that she found him. He belonged to her. She belonged to the ones she answered to. She answered to no one. He started as a man. He became a man possessed. He no longer had a choice but to do as she wanted. She wanted to see the world. She, being a ship, needed a captain. She found him. She was all he ever wanted. Beautiful, indestructible, omnipresent. He couldn’t get away from her. Every time he tried to leave she was there in his thoughts with the quiet yet persistent nagging of a sink full of dirty dishes. When he did get away, he always found himself going back. She disrupted his pattern with ease by taking him to places where he couldn’t run. She took him to a place where time lost all meaning. A place where the feeling of solid ground was lost forever. A place that was as volatile as she. She took him to the sea. The man had a chance. He had a chance to go and stay gone. He came back. This is what he wanted. He went with her willingly. He knew she couldn’t go alone. Every captain needs a ship. He needed to feel needed for a short time. An old image re-edited for a new life. This is an old image from a shoot done a long while ago. Quite liking the edit on this one. LOTS of silver make-up and silver hairspray used here followed up by a massive photoshop session to enhance the ‘shiny’. Shot with my D80 – Nikon FTW!
