Airmid was created in honor of one of my grandmothers. I used a vintage photo of her, taken when she was 18. She was sitting in bright sunlight, wearing a dark colored dress with a sailor collar. I loved the high contrast of her face and how she is looking down, so I cropped her head and printed it on paper we made from cornhusks. Also included in this piece is potpourri, acrylic paint, and a wand constructed of a branch, raffia, wire, and glass beads and gems. From my Goddess series, Airmid is the Celtic goddess of herbal healing, and she stood guard over the Well of Slaine in Ireland. She is said to live in the mountains of Ireland yet today, healing faeries and humans who need her help. Water is her element.

See my origami calendar Folded on June 21, 2008 and shot through a magnifying glass (as I only have a handhled camera without the fancy macro features – though I did use macro mode). Taken in Summer 08’... late afternoon while lightly raining out all day long… Balmy though.. A handmade arch’d bridge made of thick wood with a babbleing brook underneath is surrounded by extremely lush greenery and is in my line of vision.. Never seems to matter which angle I come from, it never fails to captivate me.. I have been here before, many times and get excited as I approach closer… A unique space…. It is where a close friend of mine that I don’t get to see enough of… stops off at… He thinks about something here… He wonders if thier paths will cross this day.. Sure wish the moon was out.. So it is here… I guess I feel like I somehow connected in spirit and mind with him for only a moment when I pass thru this space, even though we have never shared this space at the same time… Would you consider that odd? lol..
