Acrylic On Canvas A piece that was inspired about watching Wong Kar Wai’s film In The Mood For Love, set in 60s Hong Kong. A story about forbidden love and in the story, the female and male leads shared some special moments in room 2046 – writing martial novels :D The chinese title of this movie is Hua Yang Nian Hua. The Chinese title, Huayang Nianhua (translated in the subtitles as “Full Bloom” but more accurately meaning “those wonderful varied years”), is more suggestive of period nostalgia and the Shanghai association, pointing to an iridescent, kaleidoscopic age of bygone elegance and diversity. / You can view and purchase my other “Hua Yang Nian Hua” creations from my Zazzle Gallery: / /

Recently there’s been a spate of crocodile attacks here in Australia. / / Just last weekend, 11 year old Birony Goodsell was dragged underwater by one and never resurfaced. / / If feel deeply sorry for her and even worse for her family but for crying out loud, she was swiming in our most dangerous state, in a place called Black Jungle Swamp. / / That’s just asking for it. / / So now authorities are setting traps to catch and kill these so called ‘menacing’ crocodiles. / / Fair enough but I think it’s important for all of us to remember that we don’t own this planet. We share it with millions of other species and we have to learn and teach our children to respect them and their rights. / / I’m doing this shirt to present the lighter side of these primordial creatures and point out that they aren’t menacing. They’re just hungry. / / /

My freeform handbags are composed of small knit & crochet “scrumbles” which are individually joined. I then start work on the embellishments. This can mean knit/crochet flowers, corkscrews and edgings, & often the addition of beads, buttons or other baubles. Finally the bag is ready for the lining to be hand stitched into place & the handles to be attached. Each bag is individual in design & the end result of many hours work. Original bag “Seaweed” has been sold. Similar handbags are available in my etsy shop

This was my grandmother’s Gucci clutch. Found it last year in a trunk. Had it appraised and it is authentic. I was really excited!!! Another goodie I thank my grandmother for. That’s her chair in the photo also. texture

Featured in Australia Your Standing In It group, 21st June 09 Captured (not literally)! at the Daintree Mangroves Wildlife Sanctuary. I did get some shots of wild crocs on the Daintree river banks but couldn’t/wouldn’t get close enough for a decent shot ;D The title came from a fellow bubbler who told me to look out for ‘Snappy handbags’ on my travels in Far North Queensland! It has taken me quite a while to do this picture and I am not sure if it is really finished. It would be just more fine tuning if I did anymore to it but I am aware that more may spoil it. What do you think? The bits that concern me most are the hair and eyes. They look good but is it good enough.
