“Firefly” In the days before we lived with loss / Before we knew what the score would be / Before we grew into our skin / Before we were reduced to the same waiting game / As our fathers and mothers In the days when it was all thunder and ice cream / Imagination and immortality When we lived in the same world of possibility / As the fireflies we caught / Never dreaming that there would be a time / When the light would glow no more

soft pastel on canson I painted my hand in 2001 when I was going to massage school and first felt the sensation of healing energy flowing through body and out my hands. That’s when I began to believe in the power of pure love. I’ve been wanting to upload this ever since I saw Helena Nelson Reed’s Phoenix Appeal Butterfly Healer. Finally got it scanned….. Please read Helena’s words and view the other hands posted by clicking the links below: The hands in these paintings are my own and painted life size. They are meant to be expereinced not only as art, but as a focusing tool. By placing your own hand upon the image and concentrating on the colors and undualting lines, what they represent, and endevoring to sense this within your own fingertips and palms, the mind is directed toward awareness. Occupied, it ceases its chatter and allows you to be directly in the body, in the present moment rather than thought – traveling to the chores and concerns of the future or dwelling in a remembered past . Just focus on feeling the colors and what they symbolize to yourself and imagine pulling this sensation into the hand, to the heart and throughout the body. Then radiate it outward. Dont direct or worry about where its going anymore than the sun and stars concern themselves with where their light shines. Just focus on the sensation. In time you’ll be able to do this practice without a painting. Its a form of cleansing, washing away the dust and debris of the road. Impressionist, painterly . / lighthouse when walking in the rain is nice. / Digital painting is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. Digital painting differs from other forms of digital art, particularly computer-generated art, in that it does not involve the computer rendering from a model. The artist uses painting techniques to create the digital painting directly on the computer. / I create the painting, directly on my PC, by using a Wacom tablet, a stylus pen and ArtRage painting software. The Wacom tablet can be compared to a canvas or watercolor paper surface. The stylus pen is my paintbrush.

Another from my bored, model-less times earlier. This is how I fell most days I get bored… Almost Black and White with only a hint of clinical blue. Shot with my D80 (Nikon ftw!) Featured in: ‘Canon vs Nikon’ group

So tempting, something pulling you up the front stairs to the door, the house has been empty for years, and you finally got the guts to go and get a closer look, even though everything in you says “NO..STAY AWAY” you can’t help yourself… you put you hand to the door knob, part of you wanting it to open, part of you hoping that its locked..slowly you start to turn the knob..click, click…its locked…relief and disappointment runs through you at the same time.. turning to leave you hear the knob turn and the creaking of the door.. frozen on the last step, you turn to see the door slowly opening..and before you could move your feet fast enough something grabs your ankles..face first you hit the ground..All you can hear is screaming..realizing its you screaming..You start kicking, but there is nothing there, at least nothing you can see, but you feel it, hands dragging up the stairs..across the porch, throwing you through the open door into a world of horror… Nikon D90 / 18-200mm VR Lens A door on a old apartment.
