ИГРА (pronounced IGRA) means ‘PLAY’ in Russian…. / ...and after a hard day at work, these Russian women play hard too. After many hours spent in the coal mines, there’s nothing these women enjoy more, than to dance and leap around wildly with their heavy sledgehammers. / Quite a spectacle to behold. D.I.Y. is one of ‘those’ skill sets. Either you can indeed do it yourself or you best get someone else to do it! MissT has always struggled with the practical self help stuff, just looking at a car engine results in the breaking a fingernail and getting covered in oil. Her one foray into carpentry turned into an voyage of discovery as she searched for a right angle and found only wrong angles and blisters. But our girl is plucky and never one to give up. Today she’s going to hang this lovely picture she bougth from RedBubble. See her prepare… / Steel toecapped high heels just in case… check! / Protective leopard print dressing gown… check! / Identify wall… check. / Practice swing with hammer… youch! text by the talented Andrew Walker model, the luscious MissT
Just in time for St. Patty’s day. / In Canada, Saint Patrick’s Day is an official holiday only in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Text inspired by the Dropkick Murphys song.
And then the hammer came down
The Black King’s Rook / Artist: Simon Sherry / Biography: Danny The Bullrock, or King’s Rook, are massive creatures created by the Shaman to carry supplies and extra weapons for the Army of the Black Spear. Strong but limited in movement due to their sheer size, they are the product of a long extinct race of Pachyderm that was gene-spliced with the last single survivor of the Giant race dwelling in the Dark Cathedrals of the Shaman’s Apothecary. Only ever used for battle, Bullrocks are treated with special care during times of non-war. (Peace isn’t a word in the Black Spear dictionary) The King is often seen in their company feeding and grooming them exclusively.

As the sun sets and the bay is like a millpond a lone paddler paddles his board across the water.
From Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Yes you can get shirts from their site, but so far none of them are the classic Captain Hammer line from Act II.
Hammered refers to a kustom that has been chopped (the roof lowered) and this baby sure did! One killer kustom Merc. Processed with LucisArt Thoughts welcomed and check out those nekkid lady spinner hubcaps! :) —-—-—-—-—-- / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. / “The Legacy” is part of the Still Life Collection of Memory Paintings…do you remember long ago before Ikea, and flat pack shelving, fathers would nail up a few odd planks of wood in the shed, and tools were kept there, odd nails, pieces of rope, garden implements and other paraphanalia…long after they have gone the tools remain in memoriam, a tribute to ingenuity, common sense and “making do”... Painted in Watercolour on Saunders Waterford Rough Paper… Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood Ye that through your hearts to-day / Feel the gladness of the May! / What though the radiance which was once so bright / Be now for ever taken from my sight, / Though nothing can bring back the hour / Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower; / We will grieve not, rather find / Strength in what remains behind...W. Sparks of hot molten steel are ejected as Weston-super-Mare’s blacksmith Nathan Bennett re-forms a freshly heated strip of iron. Nathan was happy for me to stand at a safe distance while I worked hard to click in synchrony with his hammer strikes. In the film era this would have been a much more expensive exercise, for sure! I’ve had lots of great feedback from this photo (in other places as well as on RedBubble) and I was pleased to give Nathan a RedBubble-laminated print as a thank-you gift. / . / / .
