  • A small oasis in the hot, dry landscape of Karijini National Park.

  • Karijini is a national park in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. It is known for its rugged hills and amazing gorges.

  • An unusual abstract rock pattern I came across in Hamersley Gorge, part of Karijini National Park in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

  • A deep, cold pool down in the bowels of Hancock Gorge. Not much sun gets down here due to the high, narrow walls of the gorge.

  • A small waterfall cascades down into a cold plunge pool deep inside Hancock Gorge, Karijini National Park, Western Australia.

  • A small whirlpool is created by running water cascading down the narrow confines of Hancock Gorge, Karijini National Park, Western Australia.

  • A white gum tree dominates this image of the Karijini landscape.

  • This was taken at the beginning of the climb up Mt Bruce. The trail goes along the ridge and up to the summit. It was already over 30C and with very little shade it was a hot hike up and back. Dec 2007.

  • This pool in Karijini National Park / Western Australia is a bit hard to get to but well worth the effort. • ...Karijini National Park, Western Australia I was with a group doing some geological mapping to the north of the Park, and we had a weekend off and came south to check the place out. It was a delight to get into the deep cool pools and explore the world below the spinifex and dust.

  • An old Snappy Gum Tree (Eucalyptus leucophloia) near the Gorge Rim Walk above Dales Gorge in Karijini National Park in the Pilbara in Outback Western Australia – Copyright Blue Gum Pictures 2006

  • A scene in the Fitzgerald River National Park and Biosphere as we head toward East Mount Barren. Although it’s not obvious in the photo we are closing in on the Southern Ocean now, but the salt laden air doesn’t appear to have affected the growth of wildflowers in the slightest. At this point we would be in the region of 550/600 kms south of Perth, Western Australia and we’re heading for the tiny oceanside settlement of Hopetoun where we are hoping to find somewhere for lunch

  • Taken at Hancock Gorge in Karijini National Park/Western Australia. The spider walk leads to Kermits Pool. You walk down here with your feet on either side of the chasm supported by your hands like a spider. (Add a Manfrotto tripod and 10kgs of camera equipment and it gets quite challenging). Equipment: CANON 5D, CANON 24-105 F4 L IS Framing suggestion: / Image was featured in National Parks of the World – Wild Nature Photography and Writing © aabz-imaging / ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

  • Been scanning through some old shots and came across this horizontal format of Kermits Pool in Karijini National Park. Thought I would upload this one as a different view to the successful portrait image: Equipment: CANON 5D, 24-105 f4L IS SOLD: Poster, Small, Through RB-Site © aabz-imaging / ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

  • Hamersley Drive is one of two main roads (both are gravel) through the Fitzgerald River National Park in the far south of Western Australia some 500+ kms from Perth. It was springtime and the wildflowers all along the length of this road were just beautiful with colours that just blew us away. This road would be about 90 kms long, with absolutely no services whatsoever and it was shortly after taking this photo that we took the unmarked side turning that led us to the magic of East Mylies beach, seen in the three previous photos. / Returning to the turn off we continued along this road passing the foot of the east Barren Mountains that are seen here. After three or four more detours and stops to admire other wonderful, isolated, beaches we arrived at the tiny oceanside settlement of Hopetoun where we were lucky enough to find a cafe open for a late lunch. / Camera Sony Alpha 350 dslr / 55-200 lens with polarising filter / f8 at 1/125th / tripod mounted
