  • passage by Nicole Ryan I saw you run past the end of my bed / pretending to be a dark shadow / last night / yes i saw you / between the heavy lids / of my eyes / you fly / in and out / through time and space / and i know that you know / that i know / what it takes you come around here / with trails of the past / the electric light / buzzing around you / making you / enveloping you enlightening me you’re the shape that you always were / only prettier / and you set me alive / reminding me that you’re beside me / still you don’t surprise me / i’ve been waiting for you / and wondering / what took you so long. © ryan

  • Full view please :) The amazing Stacey Yount has again surprised me with a beautiful poem to accompany this image. I Always Have You Near Me is the second collaboration for Stacey and myself. Stacey is an amazing poet and a lovely person as well. Here is I Always Have You Near Me: I always have you near me / Even if you are far away Your love is carried to me / On the whisper of butterfly wings / Even when you are far away A zephyr sings it through the trees / And brings me joy / Even as I wait for you to return from far away Every exquisite blossom I see / Reminds me of the magnificent shades of our love / Even though you may be far away You are in my mind / A part of my soul / and are my heart See, I always feel you near me / Even if you are far away ..::Stock Photo Credit::.. / Female model / Male model / Background (trying to locate stock) / Butterflies If you like this, please check out: / / /

  • “The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live.” / ~Flora Whittemore Nikon D40, Nikkor VR 55-200mm lens As I made my way to the beach early one morning, I found this at the end of a passage on the third floor of the resort. The sun had just made an appearance and I was in awe of the beautiful light and shadows created by the sunlight through the palm leaves and arched open air window. / Taken in February 2009 at the Majestic Colonial Beach Resort, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. • One of the reasons I love Redbubble so much, is the inspiration that other artists give me. Some time ago my australian mate Michael Bermingham posted Old Yanchep Inn which to me is a timeless classic. Then Shelly Hiebert posted Sacred which is just a fantastic image. I always wanted to get a shot similar to both of those and digging through my archives back to 2007, I came across this image I took with my Nikon D50 in the Madison State Capitol building. A little HDR processing, converted to B&W, little noise reduction applied, some Dodge & Burn (which Kimberly Palmer first introduced me to) and this is what I came up with. Please also look at Michael’s and Shelly’s image, as well as Kimberly’s work.

  • Listen to : Midnight Oil – The Beds Are Burning Taken inside an abandoned building, part of an old mental institution. This place is said to be one of the most haunted places in Norway and the stories of the horror that went on here while the buildings were in use are many and they are sad. In the early 40’s and through the 50’s, 400 people was lobotomized here. And that is just one of the many experimental treatments that was used. The patients was normally wide awake during the treatment. Other experimental treatments that was used was electroshock and LSD. 4 of the buildings here has been shut down since the late 80’s and nothing has been done since to preserve them. Inside, there is not a single wall were the paint is not falling off in big pieces. All the floors are broken, almost all the windows are broken and random furniture and items from the ‘good old days’ are spread all over the place and it is now left to rot. These days, the owners are trying to get permission to tear these 4 unused buildings (4000 square meters each) down. Restoring them would cost a fortune. I live 200 meters from the building were this photo was taken and I can understand the closest neighbours wish to tear them down as it is not a pretty sight. They are however a part of the communitys history and it will be sad to see them fall. ~ Nikon D300 And Sigma 10-20mm
