Although the print size I used is quite large, I’m unsure if you will be able to read it in the picture shown here so what I have written next to the image is… “Our Greatest Strength Is In Togetherness”
I know, that title is about as corny as they come! LOL I couldn’t think of any other name for bales of hay in the afternoon sun with dandelion flowers in the grass in front of it….
This is a small park found in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada. The benches you see overlook the Avon River and it is a beautiful park to sit and relax and watch the tide come in.
This is a ride in motion at the fair. On this ride you are strapped into a seat which dangles from a large circle. The circle is then lifted up, tilted sideways and spins very quickly in circles. And no, I didn’t get on this ride, my will is strong but my stomach is weak! LOL
I spotted these lobster buoys on a wharf in Halls Harbour, NS and thought they would make a pretty picture. For those of you that don’t know what these are, they are a flotation device that is tied to one end of a rope and the other end of the rope is attached to a lobster trap. Every fisherman in the area has a different colour and pattern to mark his/her own traps so they know which are his/hers. The colours are usually chosen to stand out against the colours of the sea in all different weather. The numbers found on the buoys are the numbers given to the boat by the Federal Department of Fisheries (each boat has a different number) and are put on the buoys so there is no dispute about who owns what trap in the case of a colour conflict and also to let the fishery officers identify who the traps belong to. My father and I used a yellow for the small buoys and for the larger ones we used a yellow on the top and green on the bottom. :)
These posts are at the end of a wharf and I thought made an interesting subject. I hope you think so too!
I already have an image up of the wharf logs and water but I decided I liked this one as well. I like the shore line and the length of the line of logs, it adds depth to it. I also love the colours in the water.
When I saw this field full of dandelions I couldn’t resist stopping to get a shot. There were two houses at the top of the hill and one side had their hill completely bare of the flower and the other side was full and very pretty. For those of you that don’t know, dandelions are considered a weed and will fill your lawn, but I think they are pretty!
The bridge in this photo is the McKay Bridge connecting Halifax and Dartmouth in Nova Scotia, Canada. I was driving along snapping pictures in the fog and liked this angle the best. This was taken after I had come off the bridge and was circling underneath of it. The fog was very thick, and although you can’t see it in the fog, the support column goes wayyyy up.
I captured this little boy standing at the water’s edge at White Point Beach Lodge in Nova Scotia, Canada. He looked so cute staring out to sea and I would love to know what he was thinking! Tell me what you think he might have on his mind, it will be fun to get the different points of view!
This was taken on the beach at White Point Beach Lodge in Nova Scotia, Canada.
It was rare to see this bench empty during our stay at White Point Beach Lodge in Nova Scotia, Canada.
It was such a gorgeous day and the web was shining in the sun so I couldn’t resist this one.
I recently uploaded A Lover’s Sunset – Peggy’s Cove, NS and this shot was taken at the same time. The sky was so orange and so amazing that when Scott and I went around to water side we found the lighthouse bathed in an orangish glow….just gorgeous and this is my capture of it.
This was a leafy green plant I found growing next to a gravel driveway strewn with fallen leaves. I found it a very cool contrast, I hope you do to!
This shot of the sunset at Peggy’s Cove in Nova Scotia is exactly as is. It was a magical night and there seemed to be many sunsets happening in one night. The sky was constantly changing and it was a beautiful thing to witness. I already have two shots up from that night but I think this one is worth putting up too. And you never know, there could be others to follow! Maybe I’ll make a “Lighthouse Sunset” calendar. :)
“Friday the 13th” Halifax nose art. / As Ye So(w), So Shall Ye Reap,(Reap the Whirlwind) / Built from scratch at the Yorkshire Air Museum a few years ago as Friday the 13th. This Halibag completed 128 “ops” (operational sorties, a bomb for each op) by VE day. Most ops for a Halifax. Flown by 158 Sqdn and did 4 tours of 30 ops each and by then had undergone two “majors” inspections and flown 550 hours.
Just in case the title is confusing to any of you I will explain… Bugs Bunny and Daffy were tunneling underground and were heading for a tropical place when they popped up in the middle of snow and the cold and the catch phrase whenever they found themselves in this situation was always something like “We should’ve taken a left at Albuquerque.” Since one of the ducks was quacking in the shot I thought the title would be cute…. I captured this shot of the ducks on a frozen lake in West Pennant, Nova Scotia, Canada. I’m pretty sure they’re looking forward to the ice melting as much as I am!
Here we have a group of Halifax bombers flying through heavey flak which I have created with paint splatters Make sure you also check out my Bubble Site or my profile for more great designs, examples of which you can see below.
This year, 2009, marks the 251st birthday of Sambro Lighthouse in Sambro, NS Canada. This lighthouse is the oldest working lighthouse in North America. My Husband and I went on a tour of Sambro Island on the 250th anniversary. The atmosphere on the island is quite something, there is a certain feeling in the air that is hard to describe… When I captured this shot we were actually on a boat steaming away from the island. It always pays to look back one more time!
This idea came to me at work one day. I work in a daycare so that was probably part of the thought process… :)
Photographed at the Halifax Tall Ship Festival in July 2009. We had the opportunity to board the Eagle and photograph some of its wonderful elements, like this wheel. © 2009 Anne Hale. / /
