well, day 1 of annual leave and I am faced with massive winds, hail, sunshine, rain….the whole bloody arsenal really. So, I will check out some of the fellow RB’ers photo’s and dream for a nice sunny day tomorrow. Mind you, there is nothing wrong with browsing the fellow RB photo sites, except for the fact that you all give me so much inspiration to go out and do some great stuff and the weather comes along and bites me. Frustrating. Until next time….. seeyas!

I rarely venture into the Community Forums these days – there’s more life in the catatonic ward at Graylands. But I did drop by there this morning and learnt that even here, in the ETERNAL FESTIVAL OF LOVE PEACE AND BROTHER/SISTERHOOD THAT IS REDBUBBLE, some of us nurse a tyrant in our bosom. As my dear departed grandmother would have said: Fuck that for a joke. But I digress. I’m posting this principally to say that you to Faizan Quereshi for his hands-off management style with Masterpiece Art and Masterpiece Clothing. Every few months I remember to drop my entries and put up new ones, and that has been the sum total of my involvement. Faiz complaineth not, nor does he Bmail without reason. In fact, I don’t think I’ve had a group Bmail from him yet. Faizan – THANKS!

July is shaping up to be quite a month! :) – Along with the work that will be showing at The Word of Mouth Gallery in Portland, OR this month…I will also be showing work at the University Of Michigan school of Art and Design Alumni Show at the Work Gallery in Ann Arbor, MI. The show opens Friday, July 18 at 8pm and coincides with the infamous Ann Arbor Art Fair. Sooo, again…if you are in the area…please stop in to check it out. Not that I live in Ottery St. Mary but it’s rare exciting things happen in this area so I thought I may as well put it in a journal… The BBC described it as “Hailstorms Spark ‘Absolute Chaos’”, the flooding was described by firefighters as the ‘worst in 25 years’, according to Guardian.co.uk . At the same time there was the first October snow in London for over 70 years... Also have a look at the BBC article here for more information and a few snazzy pictures. I actually feel I missed out on a rather exciting storm – all we got was a rather normal electrical storm. Just a few miles on and the effects were barely significant. Maybe some non-specific deity has a grudge on Ottery St. Mary… There were also 6 foot hail drifts which were a bit like snow and in the words of one Ottery resident, fun for dogs. (Now if said Ottery (area) resident would like to do a wonderfully interesting journal on his own experiences during the floods, I think it would be very much appreciated. He’d better be reading this considering his name is in the title.) I have linked some very interesting articles to this so have a look and also at the BBC’s in pictures report of the Ottery flooding. All in all an interesting night for the Met Office to say the least…

WOW!! Doesn’t a good storm change people’s moods… the threat of hail, thunder & lightning.. people running everywhere, on edge, waiting… I love storms, if I had the time I reckon I would devote some of it to chasing storms. I started walking to & from work this week, reasons: fitness, pay cuts, fuel costs, etc etc, but I actually feel better for it. It’s roughly a 20 min walk, get’s me a bit sweaty in the morning, bit it’s downhill going home so it’s a bit of a wind down before I hit home & put my mother/wife hat on! But back to the storms… y’day we had a little teaser, people going crazy to get cars under cover (work in a Car Dealership) the lightning & thunder is happening (apparently a couple of lightning strikes were very close indeed!) OF ALL THE DAYS I DIDN’T HAVE MY CAMERA! (but I do today!) but there I was about an hour after the main storm, the rain was really light & drizzly & it was really quite exhilarating, with my head held high (dark clouds still looming), barefoot, rain drizzling on my face (I think I was actually having fun) walking home. As I got home the front door opened, greeted by my 10 yo son, “How wet did you get mom?” “How wet do I look?” I said, “Wet.” was the reply. Gotta love kids & their view on the world around them, but that’s another story.

Just caught up with an old college cronie I haven’t spoken to for fifteen years-not due to a spat or discontent or ‘Yo, you screwed my girl!’ or damn, your breath smells. Nah, none-a that shit. Just a coupla old chaps who lost touch and now find themselves on opposite sides of the plante funkin’ it up in their own ways. “You got kids?! Whoa, that’s fucked up! You tellin’ me some chic gave it up to you sober?” Ha! The Gonz-that’s what we called him in all his receding, red-headed, freckle faced, pole vaulting, Bill Murray quoting, french horn marching glory! Good to catch up wid ya’, dawg. Who loves ya?

The Hindu celebrations completed we found ourselves stranded quite late at night in an area of Kuching which we were clearly not familiar with – and not a taxi in sight. We looked around in the dark of late night Kuching, no taxi, no telephone but a lone tea shop still lit up with only minutes until closing. We presented our plight to the bar maids but alas they did not understand. However, a short time later a lovely young man Wayne who was dining with his partner Shirley came to our assistance asking if he could help and drove us all the way back to downtown Kuching.
