  • Been thinking of how bear can finally have his revenge on panda. I knew it couldn’t be anything bear did by himself because panda is such a strong personality. So, what do you do when your owner decides to wash her toys and pegs panda up by his backside? If you are bear…............you smile! To see why bear is smiling, take a look here and here and here

  • The Japanese writing is suppose to mean “Big Fat Robot”. However, my translation skills are extremely rusty, so for all those Nipponphiles out there, please tell me if my hanes and ten tens are where they should be. Actually, I don’t mind if it’s horribly wrong, afterall there is a huge market in Japan for meaningless English phrases (go to http://www.engrish.com/ for many hilarious examples). So it should work the other way with equally amusing results. In fact, I remember seeing a GI type wandering around Roppongi with a tshirt written in Japanese kanji, it said “baka gaijin” (idiot foreigner). Not sure if it was an ironic statement on his behalf, or he just thought the letters looked pretty.

In the 23rd century machines will become the ultimate extension; the apotheosis of our frail human anatomy. / I owe a belated thanks to Toxy for his story Concept which influenced the final direction taken for this magnificent theme.

  • The title is supposed to be lower- case. Inspired by floating cats, I suppose. : > and imagination- but, no….I created this thinking about the oxymoron of becoming an adult, and the children I see today, wearing makeup and talking on cellphones who should be enjoying childhood, not adulthood. Perhaps I am being illusional? But, in spite of it, it saddens and frustrates me when I see little girls and boys who are trying to grow up so fast…. and i don’t think it’s so much children to blame, but, i believe, it’s the media…. / how frustrating! i remember when climbing trees and playing on a playground when you’re twelve was considered normal. but, enough ranting! / Done in photoshop : >

Erwin Raphael McManus. Soul Cravings. You can choose to believe that your spirit has lived a thousand years before and that in a previous life you were a bug – or even worse than that, it’s the life to come. Or you can choose to believe that you are the result of some kind of genetic mutation that arbitrarily happened through the evolutionary process. But remember this, what can settle your mind will not settle your soul. It will stir it up. You are a unique creation made by God to live and not simply exist. Your soul longs to find its ultimate purpose. It will not rest until you do. Your soul craves its destiny. Your soul desires. It always will. You were created as a creative being. You were made to grow, to dream, to achieve. Your soul is letting you know you come from God and your life is intended to be God-sized and God-inspired. If Jesus is God, then God is a God of passion. He is not a force or energy – indifferent to the human condition. He has created us like him – with passion and desire and emotion. God is like a fire that burns within your soul.

  • What has Redbubble done for you?

I was just looking at my public profile page here on redbubble and was thinking about how I have changed since I had written about myself (I think i need to update it). Since I have been on redbubble I have come on leaps and bounds not just in my photography but also as a person, my confidence with life in general has grown. When i first came to rb I saw myself as just a housewife (not that there is anything wrong with that of course) who took pictures of her children and here I am less than a year later and I have put a book together, had 3 images accepted for a book on black and white photography and have just been accepted to do a degree in photography at my local university (I start in September). More importantly though I have made some wonderful (virtual) friends here who inspire me with their work and comments as well as several people who are pushing me forward ‘behind the scenes’ (ie bubblemail). So i just wanted to say a huge thank you to all those who have been a part of this and a huge thanks to those working hard behind the scenes at Redbubble – this is a great community to belong too. I would love to hear from you about what RB has done for you:) Thanks for reading.

  • Just for fun… / It has been a busy time for me lately, will try to catch up later :) / Thank you for all your comments, appreciated it!

This image was shot on Fujichrome Velvia film (transparency film) and the transparency was manipulated further using a Daylab printer and Polaroid pull apart film. Once the positive was formed, some citroclean was sprayed onto it and it was placed into a bath of water. The emulsion lifts off its backing and is floating literally like very fine seaweed in the water. Extreme care was taken to lift this emulsion out of the water and onto blotting paper. Whilst it is still wet it can be manipulated further into any shape you wish. In this case a very subtle tissue paper type border. Once dry it sets into the blotting paper. This is the final result. This is a very unique technique as you will never be able to reproduce the same image twice due to the fact that it is dependant on how carefully you retrieve the emulsion out of the water and how you manipulate it on the paper while it is wet.
