Acrylic painting, entry for the 9×5 Illustrators Australia annual exhibition. The theme for the exhibition is “20” as Illustrators Australia is 20 years old this year. Porcelain is the present you buy for someone on their 20th wedding anniversary. The little girl is a porcelain doll and that is her doll house. I let it tell it’s own story and it seemed to take on a life of it’s own. The little girl actually reminds me of my mother.
Portrait of Amy Winehouse I saw a photo of Amy Winehouse around the time of Halloween last year and thought “Oh Amy Winehouse is dressed as a zombie for a Halloween party…” I soon worked out that it was no costume but Amy on a regular night out, cuts on her face and arms, disheveled appearance, tooth knocked out, ashen complexion, glassy eyed.
This is a photoshop version of a pencil drawing. It is for a series of portraits. This is one is of a newspaper photo of children in a Christian cult. The leader of the cult dyed the children’s hair blonde. The original photo is really eerie.
