Brand-new gumboots – a gesture of hope of faith in our drought-hit country. Has anyone ever seen lace-up gumboots before? As far as I can remember, they’re always been slip-on attire. These elaborate laces and eyelets actually reminded me of rollerblades! I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D in very poor light conditions. F5.6, 1/8 sec, ISO 800, focal length 125mm. Featured in CONTRASTING PERCEPTIONS, October 2009. 114-7076
