Taken from a culvert under a railway line near Ararat in Victoria, Aust. , this is one of my favourite photos. The light was great and the framing provided by what was essentially a rusty, galvanised iron tank added immensely to the image. I love the resulting shape as well.
This is just one stage in the cycle of the gum blossom, to me the colors in nature are awesome. I have a Canon EOS 30D and used a Canon 10 mm macro lens.

This grand old Red Gum must have lots of stories to tell. He stands aloof on the hill in our top paddock in Mt.Pleasant Sth. Australia, he has been battered by years of wind and weather and a recent storm brought down two more large limbs. He even supports himself on a lot of his branches. It is estimated that he is over 200 years old. We are but transient!

Early morning soon after sunrise and these Galah’s had been feasting on a recently headed crop on the neighbours property. They came to digest their heavy crops in the trees on our place. The Lemon Scented Gum was a good tree to decorate there were at least a hundred birds around our drive and garden area. / Mount Pleasant. South Australia.
