  • Fog ,my passion,I ‘ve done so many shots of foggy mornings. This one I kept for a while because I knew I would need to warm up my cold winter days. That morning I remember looking for a long time the fog rising up as the sun woke up,that’s the expression of my grandchildren. The sun doen’t rise he wakes up .. :)) so cute..That seagull made my day.I choose the tittle because of the book «Jonathan the seagull» /

  • The sun sets early here in the Netherlands in December. So is was just after 4 pm on 12/11 on the IJmuiden North-Sea beach that the sun prepared itself in such a magnificent manner for its departure. With a little effort I could train these gulls to fly just between me and the sun. It proved impossible however to get just one or two do it right. So the shot is somewhat crowded. I hope you will not mind that. IJmuiden, 11th December 2007, 4.07 pm / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 55 mm / F 16, 1/200, ISO 200

  • Well this one that settled on the bow of a small boat in front of me certainly seemed to be enjoying the peace and beauty of the moment as much as I was. An eerie atmosphere as the sun was setting on the River Teign in Devon UK., I am told that the geography of this part of the river gives most unusual colours during a sunset from yellow to golden bronze.

  • Three seagulls in flight – composite image

  • Seagull sitting on top of a fountain in Torquay, Devon. / It looks like he is trying to squirt everyone with water by sitting on the top of it. / Had my Sigma 70-300 on for this shot, on full zoom. / Single shot, converted into a 9 shot HDR using Dynamic Photo Hdr, and tweaked a little in CS3. Hope you like it. / Thanks for looking. Pentax K110D. / Sigma 70-300 DG Macro.

  • This image was taken on 1st April 2009 at Mills Beach in Mornington. / Canon 450D 18-200 lens / exp: 1/200s f5.6 / ISO 125 / I went to the beach with my family for some fish & chips and almost didn’t take my camera. My hubby talked me into it last minute. I would have been in tears!!! /

  • But more wonderful than the lore of old men and the lore of books is the secret lore of ocean. Blue, green, gray, white or black; smooth, ruffled, or mountainous; that ocean is not silent. All my days have I watched it and listened to it, and I know it well. At first it told to me only the plain little tales of calm beaches and near ports, but with the years it grew more friendly and spoke of other things; of things more strange and more distant in space and time. Sometimes at twilight the gray vapors of the horizon have parted to grant me glimpses of the ways beyond; and sometimes at night the deep waters of the sea have grown clear and phosphorescent, to grant me glimpses of the ways beneath. And these glimpses have been as often of the ways that were and the ways that might be, as of the ways that are; for ocean is more ancient than the mountains, and freighted with the memories and the dreams of Time. (H. P. Lovecraft)

  • Lithuania, Klaipeda region, Curonian spit / THIS SERIES FROM / August 14-16, 2009 : morning/day/evening/night CLICK FOR COMMENTS / / at First Things / / ! The Curonian Lagoon (or Bay, Gulf; Russian: Kуршский залив, Lithuanian: Kuršių Marios, Polish: Zalew Kuroński, German: Kurisches Haff) is separated from the Baltic Sea by the Curonian Spit. / In the 13th century, the area around the lagoon was part of the ancestral lands of the Curonians and Old Prussian people. Later it bordered the historical region of Lithuania Minor. At the northern end of the Spit, there is a passage to the Baltic Sea, and the place was chosen by the Teutonic Knights in 1252 to found Memelburg castle and the city of Memel. The town is officially called Klaipėda since 1923 when the Memel Territory was separated from the German Empire. / As the new Interwar border, the river that flows into the Curonian Lagoon near Rusnė (German: Ruß) was chosen. The river’s lower 120km in Germany were called die Memel by Germans, while the upper part located in Lithuania was known as Nemunas River. The border also separated the peninsula near the small holiday resort of Nida, Lithuania (German: Nidden); the southern part of the Spit and the Lagoon remained in Germany until 1945. / This border remains today, as after World War II, the southern end of the Spit and the German area south of the river, the part of East Prussia with the town Königsberg located in Sambia, became part an exclave of Russia called Kaliningrad Oblast. • Located on Venice Beach, FL this beach did not have many sunbathers which made it easy to photograph. I loved the large clump of seagrass that was on the sand. 50 blades of seagrass blowing in the wind! Taken with a Canon XTI / f/8 / ISO-100 / 1/640 sec / 24mm

  • Taken with a Fujifilm 10mp s8100. This one of a series of shots taken at Trebarwith Strand on the North Cornwall coast, 13.10.09, see the others in the series below: All shots are straight from the camera (with the exception of a few crops)

  • Well, not glass, but still water that evening that looked like glass, and it was this view of the gull looking through the dark reflection that caught my eye… Nikon D70s; Sigma 50-500mm lens;f/6.3; 1/200sec; 320mm focal length; PSE And I think these two shots sort of work together. They may be only the lowly sky-rats to some, but they are among my most favorite birds for their big hearts and courage not to fly off as soon as you come within meters of them. /
