A very talkative Seagull taken in New Zealand.
This is a picture of a huge storm that came in suddenly over the beach in Cape May New Jersey…while everyone else ran for cover…i ran for my camera. I got soaked, but it was worth it.
Saw all these gulls in a row.
This is a 11”x14” watercolor painting. This gull flew in and perched not 15 feet away from me and stood there for the longest time. I think he was posing.

A Digital composition of a Red Billed Gull, New Zealand
Large View Recommended. Not my usual fare… I was out hiking along the East Coast Trail near Quidi Vidi Lake when I looked up and saw a LOT of gulls getting out of dodge a hurry, so I spun and quickly snapped a shot. 20 seconds later a coast guard helicopter goes soaring on by… no wonder those gulls were in a rush! Photo taken roughly here. :P Heavily edited, processed, straightened, retouched, manipulated, kicked, and tortured. Also a light Orton effect. I like it anyway. RB’s compression and optimization does NOT reproduce a lot of muted greys well. There are no compression jaggles in the original RAW or JPEG.
Dont particularly like/do seagull shots, as I, along with many others, consider them as pests, but I couldnt resist catching this one silhouetted against the late afternoon, early evening sky and sea. / It is a real photo, not superimposed, then passed off as a real capture. Thanks for looking. / Hope you like it.
This time we look from the wooden bridge which you see on picture I across the River Amstel towards the Herengracht. This time you can see the arches of the traditional 17th-century stone bridges coming out beautifully in the late afternoon sun. This shot was taken about 45 minutes later, so the sun is much lower and just lights up the higher storeys of the houses on the right. Actually I was very lucky: Not only could I convince a gull to fly across just right in time again, but also one of the typical tour boats, so well-known to each and every tourist in Amsterdam, was just about to pass under the bridge. Beware, are you his next victim…....?
Gentle swans and crazy gulls on St. Margaret’s Loch, Edinburgh.
Based on a photograph I took along the river at Greenwich, London where hundreds of gulls and terns were hovering over the water on the ebbing tide. This is acrylic and Indian ink on very smooth thick italian printing paper.

In Venice Beach, Florida two sunbathers were enjoying the peacefullness of the ocean waves. You can also see the fishing pier which when walked gives you a wide view of the water and its sealife. Taken with a Canon XTI f/8 / ISO-100 / 1800 sec / 24mm

This huge bird snuck up behind me a week ago, as I was crawling on my elbows along the pier out front of our home, waiting for a pelican to do something interesting…I turned around and saw that someone had been waiting on me too perhaps….That’s the way it goes sometimes…the real shot is behind us. / Nikon D70s; Sigma50-500mm lens; f/6.3; 1/800sec; 500mm focal length / FEATURED DEC 2009 THE WORLD AS WE SEE IT OR AS WE MISSED IT

2nd Place in the Sea Gulls Only Challenge in the Vision of Flight Photography Group. Featured in “Dimensions” December 2009 A huge flock of gulls dominate the beach and skies at Qualicum Beach, Vancouver Island, BC Canada during the herring spawn season when large volumes of herring eggs are washed ashore. There were places along the beach where this photograph was taken where the eggs were over a foot deep! Each spring, from late February to early April, the Pacific Herring return to protected areas along the east coast of Vancouver Island to spawn. The females will lay up to 20,000 eggs, which are then fertilized. The eggs become very sticky on contact with water, and will attach themselves to whatever they touch. The event brings literally thousands of marine birds and mammals to feed on the bounty including a great number and variety of gulls, rafts of sea-ducks such as Scoters, Scaup, Long-tailed and Northern Pintail ducks, Bald Eagles,California and Steller’s Sea Lions and Harbour Seals. Taken at Southwold beach, Uk Boxing day 09 Colour and feel of image AS IS just added soft edging, no other changes. Well a strange day for the light as Simon and I strolled along the prom photographing what ever took our fancy. I noticed the sky. This image was taken at 10.12am but it felt like very late afternoon and that the sun was setting A little while later the sun came out again and we had wonderful light and shadows.
