Three seagulls in flight – composite image
Taken on the east coast of england this sea bird manages to take off from one of the groynes just as the wave crashes into the shoreline.
Seagull sitting on top of a fountain in Torquay, Devon. / It looks like he is trying to squirt everyone with water by sitting on the top of it. / Had my Sigma 70-300 on for this shot, on full zoom. / Single shot, converted into a 9 shot HDR using Dynamic Photo Hdr, and tweaked a little in CS3. Hope you like it. / Thanks for looking. Pentax K110D. / Sigma 70-300 DG Macro.

But more wonderful than the lore of old men and the lore of books is the secret lore of ocean. Blue, green, gray, white or black; smooth, ruffled, or mountainous; that ocean is not silent. All my days have I watched it and listened to it, and I know it well. At first it told to me only the plain little tales of calm beaches and near ports, but with the years it grew more friendly and spoke of other things; of things more strange and more distant in space and time. Sometimes at twilight the gray vapors of the horizon have parted to grant me glimpses of the ways beyond; and sometimes at night the deep waters of the sea have grown clear and phosphorescent, to grant me glimpses of the ways beneath. And these glimpses have been as often of the ways that were and the ways that might be, as of the ways that are; for ocean is more ancient than the mountains, and freighted with the memories and the dreams of Time. (H. P. Lovecraft)
If these birds have just eaten, things could get pretty messy. (Did I just make a poop joke? Have I sunk so low? A poop joke? Seriously?)

Fog ,my passion,I ‘ve done so many shots of foggy mornings. This one I kept for a while because I knew I would need to warm up my cold winter days. That morning I remember looking for a long time the fog rising up as the sun woke up,that’s the expression of my grandchildren. The sun doen’t rise he wakes up .. :)) so cute..That seagull made my day.I choose the tittle because of the book «Jonathan the seagull» /
Well this one that settled on the bow of a small boat in front of me certainly seemed to be enjoying the peace and beauty of the moment as much as I was. An eerie atmosphere as the sun was setting on the River Teign in Devon UK., I am told that the geography of this part of the river gives most unusual colours during a sunset from yellow to golden bronze.
My dad asked me to paint seagulls on his painting, because he liked the bird I painted in the past. / Animals / Birds / Drawings / Flowers / Water / Holiday / Paintings / Sunsets / Autumn

The sun sets early here in the Netherlands in December. So is was just after 4 pm on 12/11 on the IJmuiden North-Sea beach that the sun prepared itself in such a magnificent manner for its departure. With a little effort I could train these gulls to fly just between me and the sun. It proved impossible however to get just one or two do it right. So the shot is somewhat crowded. I hope you will not mind that. IJmuiden, 11th December 2007, 4.07 pm / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 55 mm / F 16, 1/200, ISO 200

Another in the Masters series. / This is the centre part of a long panoramic watercolour. By Thomas Bush Hardy, 1895. I’ve moved some of the boats to be closer together, as my version is a small painting, 10×7 inches, on rough Bockingford tinted cream paper, 140lb. I will be painting the full length seascape in the future.
This image was taken on 1st April 2009 at Mills Beach in Mornington. / Canon 450D 18-200 lens / exp: 1/200s f5.6 / ISO 125 / I went to the beach with my family for some fish & chips and almost didn’t take my camera. My hubby talked me into it last minute. I would have been in tears!!! /
