This book is A modern introduction to The Family by Bell and Vogel, Revised Edition. The work of art is “The Family”, by Emily Chandler, of which she says The Family was created not by manufacturing something new but by altering something old. Similarly, we read the work’s narrative not by moving outwards from a single point but by moving deeper into it, uncovering parts that were previously hidden. Can intervention with and destruction of found objects be just as “artistic” as the creation of new objects? Displayed at ColloquiArt, in the GRV in Edinburgh, 16th/17th March 2008.
