. / . / . / on the dunes at Ocean Beach, Strahan. Fuel blockage was a problem yesterday – all was going well, till we “ran out of grunt” up the hill and then couldn’t start. First thought was fuel tank was empty – but not so. We humans could not push the big heavy truck either….so then it was snatch time! Caught on camera – Mr A.B. of Rosebery!!!!!!

The Cormorants were out in big numbers on a sunny morning in early March, communing contentedly in the treetops. It’s fascinating to watch the rapid quivering motion that takes place in their throats and to hear their distinctive grunting noises.

This huge shoal of Blackstriped Grunts (Xenocys, jessiae) stays very close together and moves like a giant fish above the reef. This behave protects the small individuals in a perfect way. My sweet little Koko can get very groucy when her sleep is disturbed. She does not want to be bothered hearing the camera click so she barely opens her eyes to glare at me. She makes little moans and groans when she is sound asleep so I call her “Miss Granny Grunt.” That was a favorite nickname my mother used when one of our German Shepherds would collapse on the floor with a big grunt or groan. I think she even called me that a few times when I complained about something or other LOL! As is; Nikon Coolpix P90
