Growth tree

  • Entered in the 1620 group challenge, One. / I could go on for ages about how or why this image represents me, but basicaly i found my relation with it when my friend the other day described me as some one who is “a complete weirdo yet retains the ability to function normaly in society”. This relates as the image portrays an every day normal branch we would expect to see growing from the ground or any old pot, yet in this image it is growing from an underwater tea-cup. Above the surface, in the society its normal, however if we look a little deeper it isn’t exactly what we expect. This i feel applies to almost everyone, some more so than others however. Enjoy!

  • Mixed medium photo based illustration of hands in meditation with tree.

  • Another tree like fractal, I have a lot of these :) Two versions, same fractal different colouring.

  • Mountain Ash (Eucalyptus regnans), Yarra Ranges National Park, Victoria, Australia. / _ This old giant (approx 350 year old) was known as The Furmston Tree (also The Von Mueller Tree). It was featured in early Victorian Railways and other tourism photographs of the 1930’s to 50’s era but taken from a different angle. / _ By 2000 it was decaying from the inside with a large open hollow on one side. It finally succumbed to strong winds and collapsed. It officially had a circumference at breast height (CBH) of 19.5 meters but being on a very steep slope made it difficult to measure. / _ Nikon F3. Infra-red B/W film, PS sepia toning. Photo taken 1996. / _

  • The beautiful natural colours of the moss and lichen which grows on the trees in the Tarkine (Old Growth) Forests here in Tasmania.

  • I might be getting a tattoo of this image or something close to it. I’m still playing with some variations of this but I really liked how this one turned out.

  • Heartwood is the dead wood at the center of a trunk or branch of a tree. Although it no longer sustains the tree’s life by conducting water, it does supply support. / I find wonderful symbolism in the definition of a tree and what characterizes “heart”as giving strength and support. A peak inside the heart of this old tree shows an interesting curl. Almost as if it is embracing itself.

  • Shining Gums (Eucalyptus nitens), Errinundra Plateau, East Gippsland, Victoria, Australia (taken prior to being clearfelled, logged and woodchipped sadly). Rollieflex SL66, Fuji RDP film. / © Ern Mainka

  • “New Growth New Hope” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © A surreal depicition of two larger trees bending over a smaller one and protecting it whilst silhouetted against the rising of a full moon. “Young one you know how I’m older than thee?” / said the largest of the trees, / “Another is growing smaller than you / and we must tell it the best thing to do” / “I know, I know”, said the younger tree, / “To grow as tall as the moon. Will it be sibling to me?” / ‘Yes it shall, it will grow by and by.” / And the trees stood and watched / the new reach for the sky…....” Author: adgray / See the rest of adgray’s writing inspired by / New Growth New Hope here. New Growth New Hope was featured in the: Shoot the Moon Group – April 09

  • Old Growth Mountain Ash, Yarra Ranges NP, near Healesville, Victoria, Australia, 1995. The older trees in this photo are about 250 years old. / Rollieflex SL66, Fuji Velvia film. / © Ern Mainka

  • This Blossom is very special and can be placed anywhere. It symbolises new growth and gratitude for all things. It is strong and will always be in bloom.

  • One of a series of symmetrical branching designs, I have done dozens of these, as usual been very lazy with rendering them large and uploading here, it takes so long! :P / I like how this one illustrates connection between seemingly separate lifeforms, hence the title. Thought it might work on a tshirt.

  • East opens the day at dawn, / Releasing the Sun / From night’s ebony box. / The mind awakes / with childlike delight. / Spring fills the breeze / with sweet flowers and the / shimmery sound of bells. / Here the birds unfurl their wings / and all the world takes flight. Elizabeth Barrette Ostara brings an optimistic energy as we celebrate the beginning of Spring and a turning point as the Northern Hemisphere once again tilts back towards the Sun. Until this tilt takes place, now is the time of balance – equal day and night – yet also a time of anticipation, as from this night forward, the light once again conquers the darkness. Spring Waltz Photograph of one of my favorite fairies (large collection), played with in photoshop7 and fractilius (redfield plug-ins). HAPPY SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FEATURED IN OUTSIDERS This is an abstract image of the colorful tree bark of the Rainbow Eucalyptus tree more commonly known as the Rainbow Gum Rainbow Eucalyptus is one of Nature’s coolest trees showing off a TRUE rainbow of colors boldly displayed on the entire trunk and branches above. / Taken in Oahu, Hawaii / Nikon D90 / Nikkor 18-200 VR Lens / 130mm Focal Length

  • The discovery in 1994 of the Wollemi Pine (Wollemia nobilis), one of the world’s oldest and rarest plants, was described at the time as “the equivalent of finding a small dinosaur still alive on earth.” Now safely propagated and its future assured (this one lives in a pot in a Sydney backyard), the location of that original find, in a remote area of a national park, is still a closely guarded secret.
