  • Entered in the 1620 group challenge, One. / I could go on for ages about how or why this image represents me, but basicaly i found my relation with it when my friend the other day described me as some one who is “a complete weirdo yet retains the ability to function normaly in society”. This relates as the image portrays an every day normal branch we would expect to see growing from the ground or any old pot, yet in this image it is growing from an underwater tea-cup. Above the surface, in the society its normal, however if we look a little deeper it isn’t exactly what we expect. This i feel applies to almost everyone, some more so than others however. Enjoy!

  • I find this simple image reminds me of shoots or bulbs of a plant dividing off from the parent organism. It is another fractal, derived from an algorithm I found when I made a programming error :) One of the reasons I write my own software instead of one of the very powerful and nicely designed fractal programs out there, it’s easier to make mistakes and sometimes I like the mistakes better than the intended result.

  • Simple and effective image to show the vulnerability of the environment. We need to care and respect the environment or it will fade. This image could be a reminder for the world’s individuals to take an active role in considering the environmental impact of their actions. There is hope though, for there is coloured life in the branch. (This image was created simply by creating a black/white mask over the original photo in PS3)

  • The beginning of a sunflower forming. Taken with blue filter.

  • The koru is often used in Maori art as a symbol of creation. / The koru shape is a scroll shape and is linked to the New Zealand fern. The shoot of the fern has a curled-over tip which unfurls and becomes a fern leaf. “The koru reaches toward the light, striving for perfection, encouraging new positive beginnings…. / The koru represents the unfolding of new life, that everything is reborn and continues. It represents renewal and hope for the future. / Spiral, geometry of life, sacred creation….” from : Aotearoa.co.nz / /

  • This little vine is growing in our yard, heading ever so surely towards the sunlight. Its progression has us all amazed, so fragile but so determined. For the technically curious shooting info as follows. / Canon 1D mk2 with lensbaby, 1300/ second @f2, iso 100.

  • The paisley design originally came from simplified drawings of flowering plants. It is also believed to be the shape of a mango seed. / It is a beautiful organic design that I have loved for years. / My design was originally from a painting, showing the paisley designs origins in nature, that I did a few years ago. / In making it into a drawing for this t-shirt design I have attempted about 20 totally different designs and have been getting very frustrated with trying to resolve it. / Hope you like it , would love some feedback. / / I have decided to ditch the background altogether.

  • To figure out the true volume of seepage from dam number 3, it was decided to drop the water level in the reservoir about 4.5 feet. While they are checking and attempting to fix the problem, nature is reclaiming what is rightfully hers. Every inch of exposed reservoir is now covered in the purple wildflowers. Some, due to the rich nature of the soil, are almost 3 feet tall.
