Under the sight of the planets, life continues on the wheel of evolution. Round and round… From the cells of this seed head, shall fall the next sacred water lily seeds that will sink into the muck far below and struggle to grow until they return to the light. ~~~~~~~~~~~ This image was FEATURED in group” The Fine Art of Photography” during the month of July to August 2008. / ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Image has been viewed 350+ times. Thank you EVER so much.
This is a picture from my day job. The red balls are grass pollen, and the tubes from them are growing down into the flower to fertilise the ovary. To get ready for the photo took some serious effort to get the timing right, then use of chemicals to stain the pollen red, then actually get to the microscope to take the photo. After reading in the forums about the paths people have taken to become artists, and thinking of my desire to be one (as in, to be able to spend all my time on creative pursuits), I began to think about what skills I have already from my current path. My challenge was to find a creative application of those skills, because I’m not in a position to give up work. Yet :) I’ve been using photography to record my work for many years, so that was the first and most obvious answer. I just thought I’d throw that up for interest, as it’s not the sort of thing that you would want framed in your living room I’m sure LOL!

I did this painting a few years after Inconsolable was done. I was feeling better about life and had my own two kids to remind me life goes on. It’s my Zen child portrait. / Oil on wood panel: 36×36 / Painting available for sale /

East opens the day at dawn, / Releasing the Sun / From night’s ebony box. / The mind awakes / with childlike delight. / Spring fills the breeze / with sweet flowers and the / shimmery sound of bells. / Here the birds unfurl their wings / and all the world takes flight. Elizabeth Barrette Ostara brings an optimistic energy as we celebrate the beginning of Spring and a turning point as the Northern Hemisphere once again tilts back towards the Sun. Until this tilt takes place, now is the time of balance – equal day and night – yet also a time of anticipation, as from this night forward, the light once again conquers the darkness. Spring Waltz Photograph of one of my favorite fairies (large collection), played with in photoshop7 and fractilius (redfield plug-ins). HAPPY SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New growth will grown on its own, but as the predominant animal on this earth we are obligated to give nature a helping hand. Second in the enviroment series for the new gallery show

Mountain Ash (Eucalyptus regnans), Yarra Ranges National Park, Victoria, Australia. / _ This old giant (approx 350 year old) was known as The Furmston Tree (also The Von Mueller Tree). It was featured in early Victorian Railways and other tourism photographs of the 1930’s to 50’s era but taken from a different angle. / _ By 2000 it was decaying from the inside with a large open hollow on one side. It finally succumbed to strong winds and collapsed. It officially had a circumference at breast height (CBH) of 19.5 meters but being on a very steep slope made it difficult to measure. / _ Nikon F3. Infra-red B/W film, PS sepia toning. Photo taken 1996. / _
Young sapling growing towards the sun.
One of a series of symmetrical branching designs, I have done dozens of these, as usual been very lazy with rendering them large and uploading here, it takes so long! :P / I like how this one illustrates connection between seemingly separate lifeforms, hence the title. Thought it might work on a tshirt.
Simple and effective image to show the vulnerability of the environment. We need to care and respect the environment or it will fade. This image could be a reminder for the world’s individuals to take an active role in considering the environmental impact of their actions. There is hope though, for there is coloured life in the branch. (This image was created simply by creating a black/white mask over the original photo in PS3)
