These are actually not poplar trees but the nesting colonies of the sociable weavers in the Kalahari desert. The weaver birds build their nests in high trees or in this case man made poles. The nesting material is harvested by local farmers to be sold as an industrial fire retardant and gets it’s color from the nearby Red dunes This image shows a detail of this work. oil on canvas / 120×80 cm.
Wild horses layered over the Aspen Grove.
Seville, Vic, Australia. I saw this grove of Chestnut trees on the side of the road and jumped a barbed wire fence to shoot it. It was such a surreal morning with the mist rolling through the trees. Took about a dozen shots here and stole 7 chestnuts which I had with my dinner that night. It was only after uploading this that I decided that I’m not entirely happy with it. I have about 10 different versions of it shot at different angles some of which I think are a little better.
Digitally captured using a Sony Alpha 100 with a 28 – 75mm. Comments welcome.
Location: Elk Grove California / Technique: HDR (High Dynamic Range) and Time Lapse This was absolutely the hardest sequence of shots I have ever done,,,, Ever! Loved the way the trees lined up along this dirt road except that they were originally only on the right side. Did my HDR sequence at about 6:30pm just for the trees. Then I shot a 1260 second exposure with an ND Cokin Gradual filter later at about 10pm in complete darkness with only the moon for light. One of my favorite places to visit in the beautiful Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina is this grove of trees we call the “Cathedral.” The first time we found it, my husband and I realized we were whispering as if we had entered a church. There is something magical about this place. The silence is total and it seems to welcome us each time we visit. Whenever anyone asks us which church we attend, we glance at each other and tell them “The cathedral in the forest.” Even though the trees were planted by man, there is a sense of a special energy in the center of the grove.
Art Nouveau again. Produced in Painter X. This has taken rather a long while to do as I seem to be suffering from a creative block at the minute probably due to the stress my Mother In Law’s illness over the last few months. I’ve finally completed it about four weeks after I started. Model courtesy of mizzd-stock

I have spent countless hours playing as a child in this forest and as an adult I spend countless hours trying to destress in the same forests. This artwork has been featured in the group “Stillness speaks” 4 cards of this artwork sold so far.
