I have wanted to get a nice picture of it for about ten years now, and we actually went by it two days ago. I used my Canon Rebel XT to capture this shot. I was excited that we were going to get there at sundown. Funny thing is right after this shot, we ran into another one just like it in Indiana. I could not believe someone else put the exact same cross on their farm property, wonder if their related. This is Groom, Texas skyline, and put them on the map. The settings were shutter speed 1/30sec. F-stop F/5.0, ISO 400, Focal Length 140.0mm. This was an as is shot. Welcome to the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ Ministries and the marvelous story of what God is doing through this 19 story cross located on Interstate 40 at Groom, Texas. Construction of the / cross frame was done in two shops in Pampa, Texas by more than 100 welders and erected in July of 1995. Truly, all things are possible for those who believe. Ten million people pass by every year. One thousand stop each day. This 190 foot tall free standing Cross can be seen from twenty miles away. Thomas saith to him, “Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?” Jesus saith to him: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.”

Blue and Gold Macaw grooming his feathers… These majestic birds are not only beautiful, but very intelligent! More details about thes large parrots below: BEHAVIOR: Blue and Gold Macaws are generally seen in pairs but may congregate with others to form flocks of up to 30 birds. Paired birds fly close together with their wings almost touching. They undertake conspicuous daily flights from their roosting sites to scattered feeding grounds, but return to the roosting trees just before sunset by flying high above the forest canopy. Blue and Gold Macaws are extremely wary; and, at the slightest sign of danger, will rise into the air screeching loudly. Blue and Gold Macaws are extremely intelligent and adaptable and can be taught to do tricks as well as to mimic words. They are very expressive and will show their emotions or intentions by cocking their heads, vocalizing, flashing their eyes (voluntary constriction of the pupils), and blushing. They also use fluffing of the feathers, raising the wings, prancing, bowing, shaking their tail feathers, and head bobbing as forms of communication. STATUS: Blue and Gold Macaws are the most popular and readily available of the macaws. They are prized for their beauty and personality and make excellent pets for adults but require a tremendous amount of time. Blue and Gold Macaws are listed on CITES Appendix 2 indicating they may become rare or endangered if trade is not regulated. FOLKLORE AND MYTHS: It is a common myth that macaws will live 75 to 100 years, however, macaws are not as long lived as cockatoos. Their lifespan is typically up to 50 years with breeding age being up to approximately 30-35 years. The shot was taken at Go Ape at Whinlater Forest on one of there many Zip wires they have.
