A set of urinals in a derelict office building
A bathroom, painted in ‘institutional grey’ once upon a time now lays peeling and rotting in an abandoned mental asylum.
In a rickshaw in Udaipur, Rajasthan.. despite the grime and grit of flying along in one of these things along Indias dusty roads, you’re often dazzled by the wonderful saris of passers-by..
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will receive it in full. Matthew 5:6
Life can be pretty black and white sometimes…... This was shot many years ago in the grimy inner city suburb of Newtown while waiting for a train at St Peters Station…... the inner city can be a fairly fraught place to be in sometimes so CityRail kindly placed a lovely billboard of a rainforest ajacent to the platform to sooth the harried traveller…... it advertises nothing but a little bit of wishful thinking and dream beliving…..... and I’m all for that….....:)

Often my life feels like this – like a lively, bright red thread, flying through a vast, dirty and decaying world. Sometimes it zooms about as if on some frantic search, and other times it just floats wherever the wind carries it, but always there is the sense that I don’t belong. My good, old keyboard with a bit of post processing. Inverted, added noise and duo toned to get this grimy, abandoned and disease ridden effect. One of the most exciting things about dubstep the scene is the relative lack of consensus about what exactly dubstep is (other than that most of the tracks are produced at the same tempo). Do the epic, break-driven tracks of popular Hot Flush artists like Boxcutter and Toasty fit in? What about the work of M.R.K. 1 and The Plastician (formerly Mark One and Plasticman), whose tracks bridge the divide between grime, dubstep, and dark, 4/4 house? As in any healthy scene there’s plenty of discussion about where dubstep’s boundaries begin and end, but the one thing that is clear is that the scene supports an amazing diversity of background influences: from Vex’d’s heavy metal leanings to the crypto-mysticism of Kode 9 and his gravel-throated MC, The Space Ape, to the cinematic leanings of DJ Distance, who was brought up on rock and trip-hop. “Everyone’s pushing the boundaries, everyone’s adding their own flavor,” says Skream. “All the tracks that are getting played, the quality’s good and it’s all different sounds. You hear a new tune by Distance and then one by Benga and they’re totally different.” Dubstep rocks because Dubstep is global !
Was brushing my teeth the other day, and there was a little bit of blood in the drain from it. Gave me this idea. No mouths were harmed in the making of this piece. Simply my bathroom sink drain, with some colour altering and adjustments of contrasts and brightness to make it look bloody, rusted and grimy. I seem to have a liking for things that aren’t pristine and clean at the moment! Featured in Toilets & Bathrooms Canon SX100IS MCN: C2018-482F7-4365E
Your eyes won’t shut now. / Your brain won’t stop. / Sweet sleep would have come but you pushed it away. / Now it wants nothing to do with you. / You kill dreams, stab them, rip them into shreds and wad them up in grimy spitballs. You need sleep. / You need sleep. / You need sleep. But all you have is thoughts that won’t stop tapdancing on your brain, / And a twitch in your eyelid. / And a stomach of slime. You need sleep. / You need sleep. / You need… Whew! I’m going to bed. Will get caught up tomorrow. I hope someone likes this! / This is actually four photoimages (my eyes and hand included) and a lot of painting & editing…..Photoshop Elements 3.

I have a passion for decaying architecture. I love the aging process which creates a beauty all of its own. The paradox of a derelict cinema called the Futurist in the centre of a busy city where new buildings are springing up all around. Why do we let the most wonderful buildings fall into ruin whilst spending fortunes to build new structures? I hope you appreciate this. First published May 2008, Photography Monthly
WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!! I finally stopped using “AUTO” on my camera! Spent some time with the buttons and menus and sub-menus and wheels and clickers and made the Canon Rebel EOS xsi take a decent shot. / Too bad I was aiming at my foot. Earlier today I was doing yard work: now you can see it! Yippeee! I’m sooo happy! / No flash, low light, hand-held, NEARLY as is, just a couple of tiny edits for contrast.
Another one in my lane way series. This was taken in Brunswick, Melbourne. Just around the corner from Rendez-vouz. I layered the original shot 4 times, adjusting the hue to different ranges and increasing the brightness in all, added noise and a faint layer of texture.
