When my children were young we used to visit Pigeon Forge, Tennessee on our way to the Great Smoky Mountains. Our last trip through I decided I would do some paintings of the less picturesque aspect of our trip. . . painting images of the tourist trap nestled at the base of those beautiful mountains. Of course the kids love the painting because it sparks deep fond memories of our family trips together. After nearly two years of on and off painting on Beach House, it’s ready to debut. This is the Chrome grill from the auto in this series called Pinkie from my show called OldBoyToys a look at the autos of a collector. As you can see the grill back in the 1930 to 1970s were a work of art in its self often the reason a person would by a car was to have this grill as a symbol of who they were! It was quite striking to see something as bright and as bold come at you in the night blazing with full headlights reflecting off of its front bumper!

Austin … what a classic car … British through and through!
There are plenty more doors like this in old Kazimierz, Cracow, Poland. From the photographer’s view, I hope they don’t get the attention or they wouldn’t look the same!

Just a classic car in classic black & white. Personally, I thought the grill on this behemoth looked pretty badass.
Graffiti on a newly painted wall in Kings Cross, Sydney. I like the contrast between the built-in grill and the transient graffiti. Taken with a Canon EOS350D and a 17-85mm EFS Lens. FEATURED in the group Simple by Design (3/09).
