Ruins of the old convict gaol at the Isle of Pines in New Caledonia. I have tried something a little different from my normal processing to avoid the sky being washed out. Let me know if you think it works! Other works from New Caledonia Rainbow road / Sunset on the Isle / Watching the sun fall /
A thundering of hooves heralded the horse herd running over the hill towards us in the pre-dawn light on Old Yabba Station.

I felt like uploading a picture of my hometown… I live in Sydney and do miss it a lot sometimes. I try to go back every 6 months (going there tomorrow actually yay!). Changed the name of it after Jason Moses’ comment :)
This is all that remains of a very old, rather long pier at Clifton Springs that sailing ships used to berth at 100+ years ago when bring passengers to the ‘healing waters’ of the natural springs in the area during that era.

This elderly woman sits at the window and contemplates the world outside. She does not see far beyond the window frame because her world has diminished considerably. Two years ago she was officially diagnosed with dementia after a life threatening surgery and long hospital stay. However, her family and friends noticed a difference in her personality over the last several years. Once a proud and hard working single mom, she raised two children during the 60’s and 70’s at a time when single parenthood was not as widely accepted as it is today. At present, she is reduced to little more than the passive demeanor of a quiet child. She is aware of the reduction in both her mental and physical abilities. She also understands that she is helpless to change anything. / It takes great courage to face the inevitable. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia; it accounts for 64 per cent of all dementias. For example right now in the US, Alzeihmer’s has surpassed diabetes and is the sixth leading cause of death. As baby boomers are rapidly approaching the age of retirement it is believed that 10 million baby boomers will develop Alzheimer’s in their lifetime. Currently, there are more than 24 million people in the world with dementia—this is estimated to rise to 81 million by the year 2040.6 / Statistics taken from both the Canadian and American Alzeihmer’s Society. / Published by Redbubble in Compassion, Courage and Friendship book October 2008 / Compassion, Courage & Friendship Top Ten in the Mood & Ambience, The Seated Human challenge, July 2009 / Featured in the Nirvana group October 2008 / Featured in the ImageWriting group November 2008 / Featured in the RB Buyer’s Booth November 2008 / Featured in the Stillness Speaks group November 2008 / Featured on RB homepage on November 25/08 / The Fine Art of Photography

Westfield, NJ – Oct 2008 – It’s such a decorated house, I can’t imagine who lives there. That door has 4 different shades of paint on it. —-Mike Savad / Suburban Scenes by Mike Savad Squidoo Lenses
Old stairs lost in an old university corridor in Toulouse. The IPST-CNAM is a professional training university hosted in the first medical university of Toulouse … ages ago… The building has not changed since his first days, and the creepy walls are giving a strange atmosphere. Rehabilitation works have been planned… Good thing for this witness of our history…

Today was the Torremendo, (Spain) Annual Fiesta, celebrating their Saints day, where 2 Oxen pull a cart carrrying a statue of Jesus around the town and horse riders and pedestrians proceed and follow. Last year I rode, but decided I would snap some photos this time. This elderly man had a wonderful character visage, so I plucked up the courage to snap a shot! He was just a follower. The day was blazing hot, so he must have been melting in his coat and hat. This is the first time I have managed to capture an older person to apply this effect to and I am quite pleased with the result! I have removed the background as it was full of people and was messy. / 2 hours worth of editing in PSP, including manually adding the Dragan effect! / Nikon D40 18-55mm / Started photography May 2008
