This husband and wife were originally from Chennai, India, but have moved to Alleppey in search of work. This doorway is their home. What struck me was how proud they were of each other, and how they showed immense affection and respect towards one another. They DEMANDED to be photographed. The nicest people we met in all of India … and quite possibly the nicest two people we’ve met anywhere (typical of Chennai people). I wish them the best of luck.

Taken during a sailing trip in Germany, Heiligenhafen. / We anchored in front of a beautiful coast. When I saw the shining red from the yacht I just had to go there. The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by SBC, painting, and drawing. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda. It won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007. Thank you for your interest, comments and purchases!

Photographed by me. Shadow highlight and colour adjustments in Photoshop. Scanned endpapers from an out-of-print book to use as texture. Layered with the texture i created using multiple modes eg. color burn and multiply and adjusted opacity. Omni lighting in PS using yellow tone. Flattened and created a texture map from the image in Photoshop by duplicating the flattened layer to a new doc then desaturating and saving as a .psd. Applied the .psd via the texture filter in PS at about 100% 11. USM at 100,30 0. Just having fun! /

/ My Paris is from my photo collection…candid photos from the days before digital...we took this just outside, as we soaked up the atmosphere, and dreamed of seeing Picasso walk in…. Lapin Agile is a famous Montmartre cabaret, at 22 Rue des Saules, Paris, France. / It was originally called “Cabaret des Assassins”. Tradition relates that the cabaret received this name because a band of assassins broke in and killed the owner’s son. The cabaret was more than twenty years old when, in 1875, the artist Andre Gill painted the sign that was to suggest its permanent name. It was a picture of a rabbit jumping out of a saucepan, and residents began calling their neighborhood night-club “Le Lapin à Gill”, “Gill’s rabbit”. / Over time the name evolved into “Cabaret Au Lapin Agile”, or, the Nimble Rabbit Cabaret. At the turn of the twentieth century, the Lapin Agile was a favorite spot for struggling artists and writers, including Picasso, Modigliani, Apollinaire, and Utrillo. / At the Lapin Agile By Picasso / In the celebrated work, now an icon of life in bohemian Paris at the turn of the century, Picasso depicts himself dressed as a Harlequin, accompanied by Germaine Pichot. Frédé, the owner of the cabaret Le Lapin Agile, strums his guitar in the background. Picasso’s great friend Casagemas committed suicide in 1901 because his love for Pichot had not been returned. Emerald Paradise As Is… / Canon PowerShot S3 IS Rainbow Springs Florida’s third largest spring, Rainbow Springs pump 600 million gallons of water daily and serves as the head water to the pristine Rainbow River. The property was acquired by the State Park Service in 1990 and is slowly being allowed to revert to its natural state. / Beautiful floral gardens surround the spring, and the area is immensely popular in the spring when the azaleas are in bloom. The state also acquired Rainbow Springs State Campground, located nearby, which was formerly privately owned. From the campground, you can tube or canoe the crystalline waters of Rainbow River, or fish for large mouth bass and other freshwater species. / A nature trail provides a lovely walk past two waterfalls and the azalea gardens, and meanders along the Rainbow River. / /
