  • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Chilli Beach, Cape York Peninsula, Far North Queensland. Chilli Beach is wide and long and fringed with palms – a truly magical spot overlooking Restoration Island, Capt Bligh’s first landing place in 1792. They might say the best time to visit the Cape is May through to October, but I can imagine that the roads would be in very poor condition by August. When we went in May they were just grading the roads preparing for the onset on tourists that visit the Cape. 4WD vehicles only!! Be prepared for corrugations and slow down on those corners – you just might come across a family of wild pigs as we did, luckily we weren’t going fast!! 100% of proceeds received from Redbubble in respect to sales of “Chilli Beach” will be donated to “thegreataustraliancancerbushwalk” for the Cancer Council. • Mighty Oak Tree, and a Foggy Morning Sunrise / Rural Arkansas USA / One nice thing about living in a rural area, is finding shots like this one on you way to the city for work. I make it a point to give myself a little extra time for the drive each morning, just in case I run across a scene like this one.

  • “Marbled Sky“ I found this scene on the way home from a photo shoot with my sister, Manikah. We had visited Beaver Town to shoot the Arkansas Golden Gate Bridge. Beaver Town is a quaint nostalgic community just outside of Holiday Island, near Eureka Spring, Arkansas. Of course, on the way home we took every dirt road we could find! ...lol When we were crossing a low-water bridge, I happened to glance down I saw this “marbled sky”! My eyes are always searching for the art in nature :)

  • Artwork from Ireland. (Original painting has been done in Acrylics on board) / A summer scene in my hometown of Galway which is on the west coast of Ireland. This was my first ever painting of my own subject matter and I did it in acrylics when I was about 18 years old. I’ve done it in a ‘pointillist’ style as I am very influenced by the French post-Impressionist painters and most particularly, Georges Seurat (1855-1891) who invented the post-impressionist style of ‘Pointillism’ and influenced Signac to paint in the same style. I completed this painting after completing a replica of one of Georges Seurat’s paintings – ‘The Seine at La Grande Jatte’. It was for a college assignment. We were to firstly pick a painting from a great Master, replicate it then do a painting of a similar subject matter using the same style. Pointillism is use of complementary coloured dots placed adjacent to each other or slightly overlapping to create extra colours while viewed from a distance. In a sense it is like optical colour mixing and a study of light. The effect that is created is what Seurat referred to as ‘emotion. This particular scene (my interpretation of Seurat’s ‘Pointillist’ style) is of ‘The University College Boat Club’ in Galway. Galway is a small city in the west of Ireland and is my hometown, so where better to start for an interesting subject matter. In the background, you’ll see some red pre-fabricated buildings and because this was painted many years ago, these pre-fabs no longer exist. In fact there is quite a large building there now. I love lots of colour and I find that when painting in the pointillist style it is possible to put almost every colour in the rainbow into a blur of dots and that this intensity of multi-colour dots helps the whole scene come to life. / Hope you like it. :) Featured in: The Patchwork 9th March 2009. / Featured in: From Masterpiece 10th March 2009. / Featured in: First Things 24th March 2009. / Featured in: ! * Irish Eyes * ! 7th June 2009. / Featured in: Landscape Painting – 12th August 2009. • ~ Twin Falls ~ Trail head at Camp Orr in the Buffalo River National Wilderness Area, Arkansas Usa. / The beautiful picturesque Twin Falls now has an added beauty right beside it due to all the rain we have had in the last month. Shot this photo in the pouring rain, using my uni pod, and with my camera on auto, and of course the umbrella was a must! LOL! It was quite the challenge steadying the camera, juggling the umbrella, all the while with the lightning flashing, and the forest canape swirling in the strong winds of the storm, which caused tornadoes in many surrounding areas. By the time I finished this shoot I was soaked to the bone, but this shot and the many others I shot were all worth every moment. BUT MY CAMERA REMAINED DRY!!!!!! / I am real happy with the silky water, as I have no means to set my camera for timed shots. /
