I realized that there are a ton of files that I haven’t gone through from the summer… so I went through them and saw this little one. Taken sometime last summer, hand held with natural light in my garden. Strangely I’m not that afraid of bees, haha… Enjoy!

Experiment! / Playing with that Orton effect image the other day made me want to try something on my own. This ISN’T the Orton effect. Maybe it’s not even something special but I really like it. I used Corel Painter Essentials 2 to create 3 layers & did cool stuff to the layers. Then I merged them and moved the combined image to Photoshop Elements 3 for some fine-tuning. If anyone’s interested in how to do it let me know. I think I can re-trace my steps. / /

Believing is so hard / When darkness covers us / We pray, we sigh, we cry, / But silence fills the soul / And the weary, clinging heart / Just wants to let go . . . Then amidst the dying leaves / When Autumn dries up hope / A lonely little flower / blossoms on the barest branch . . . A tiny smile from Heaven, / A whisper of encouragement, / Welcome refreshment on the dusty road . . . And so we carry on . . . / And so we carry on . . . (I took this photo of a red leaf plum blossom this afternoon in early November. This tree just does not bloom at this time of year, yet there it was, a single little flower on a bare branch amidst dying leaves. I really needed this little boost for my faith just about now when hope about certain things is waning and I’ve been trudging along pretty lamely. I post this in thanksgiving to the good Lord who I believe supplied this little “miracle” to revitalize my drooping spirits. I hope it refreshes someone else who is tempted to stop believing, to give up hope.) Please VIEW LARGER

My favourite spring flowers have to be these gorgeous purple iris! I placed them in a vase in a sunny window and they glowed in the sunlight. Watercolours (W&N, M Graham and Daler Rowney) on Arches cold pressed watercolour paper.
