  • The closest lighthouse to where I live, and the ideal place to practise with the camera before a longer excursion. I took this a while ago, but it jumped out at me as a great cropped panorama when I saw it again. The inclusion of the moon really makes this one. The Cloch Lighthouse is situated close to Gourock, on the Clyde. Taken with a Canon Eos 5D with 17-40L. http://www.lewisgolbourn.com

  • The QE2 comes home to her birthplace – the River Clyde for the last time on Sunday October 5th 2008; flanked by a flotilla of fellow Clyde vessels. She might be going to Dubai but she’ll always be ours. A fine ship built by proud men.

  • Overlooking Greenock & Gourock from Lyle Hill, Greenock, Scotland.

  • Greenock cemetery, Scotland. A girl kicking leaves in the autumn.

  • Finally! I managed to get out with the camera this morning and the conditions were just right for a change. I did mean to go to Portencross, however the sky was turning pink as i was passing Inverkip – I’d never have made it in time, so a quick about turn and off to the Cloch I went. This is the shot that I’ve been wanting here – a long exposure to smooth the waves over, with clouds and decent lighting. That might be me cured of the Cloch for a few months now, depending on the weather! Canon Eos 5D, 17-40L lens, f22, ISO 100, 30 seconds with a 1.2ND and a 0.9 soft grad. Taken down the slope from the Cloch Road, between Gourock and Inverkip, Scotland.

  • Interesting hotel by the seafront, on Custom House Place in Greenock. I have not managed to find much information about the history of the hotel yet, but I’ll update it as soon as I do. I don’t think that the floral display and the anchor are part of the hotel, they just happen to be on the square in front of it. But I thought they combined rather well together :-) I just wished the parked van wouldn’t be there, but I had no chance of going back to take the shot another time. I had to resort to slight HDR, to balance out the shadows on the flowers with the strong sun reflecting on the hotel. [Sony a350, Sigma 17-70@18mm f:13 1/30 ISO-100] .

  • Lylehill is my favourite place in he world. The views are just amazing, over looking the Clyde Estuary, over the West. (Taken with a Fuji S5800) Location ~ Lylehill, Greenock, Inverclyde, Scotland
