“Listen a hundred times; ponder a thousand times; speak once.” / - TURKISH PROVERB My son Kane had no idea I was photographing him at this time…He was just wondering sweetly along a path in a local parkland area when suddenly he stopped and leaned on the fence. I honestly could not believe what I was seeing through my viewfinder when he did it. Then when I saw the photograph it just blew me away. Kane is 3 years old in this photograph. This is my all time favourite photograph I’ve taken with my DSLR to date. Played with the colour version in photoshop and am very pleased with the outcome. (black and white ) This was taken with my 300mm Canon lense. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WINNER of the LIVE LOVE DREAM Feel the Emotion Challenge WINNER OF WEEKLY CHALLENGE WINNER OF THE children the power of raw emotion challenge ○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○ /

The other casualties of war—those left behind, are seldom considered after the folded flag is given in memory of their loved one’s sacrifice. This piece pays homage to those left behind, and explores “Feeling the Void”. It features the riderless horse, which, although reserved for colonels, or above, in the Army or Marine Corps, here, symbolizes the soul of the lost soldier. The horse here is a Friesian horse, on which a star blaze has been added as a tribute to “Black Jack”, a long serving riderless horse. The young woman represents a daughter, nearly grown, for all intents and purposes, but always and forever “Daddy’s girl”. Take a moment with me and remember the wives, husbands, children, brothers, and sisters of the lost soldiers who paid their respective country with their life and, also, the lives of those they left behind. Digital work, in watercolor style, June 2009 Suggestions: Sympathy card for someone who has lost a family member in the service. Poster for a child who has lost a parent in the service. And the normal aesthetic pieces for those who love powerful, symbolic art. So this time I choose the movie actor Brad Pitt as subject for this portrait. Sorry for watermarking this piece, but it will be featured in an art gallery. Normally I don’t watermark my work as I really don’t care if people use my privat artwork, but this has a change of being sold, so that’s why. Hope you enjoy it ;-) Odwin
