  • Bermuda and The Sea Venture
    by SBCStudio

    US$4.56–US$121.60

The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by SBC, painting, and drawing. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda. It won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007.

Channel Billed Toucan – Copan, Honduras

  • Camping a couple of nights at this beautiful spot was almost surreal…surrounded by tropical rainforest and the calcium rich waters from flowing through limestone country made it look even more idyllic – seclusion,isolation..add some fantastic company and a natural heaven is there.. as always – thanks for viewing and yes these are/were the actual colours of the original transperancy. / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2007 / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / see more of my photography from Nth Qld below / /

  • bird in paradise
    by sunset

    US$4.42–US$117.80

been reading about tribal child raising and the benefits, and we know I like birds… I began this art as abstract patterns, bubbles of pattern that transformed when I realised by putting a ‘fork in the road’ to the concentric circles, that I created an eye and beak. Before that, it could’ve been shown either way up. also, it transformed from earthy brown colours, to a colourful bird. ‘Is it art? ‘my teacher used to always question. He’s not here now. He’s just asking the question still! in my head! I like it-it’s bright, colouful and alive.

  • termite storm
    by Tony Middleton

    US$5.70–US$152.00

Here in the western top-end of Australia another pulse storm rockets up high in the atmosphere and unleashes a torrent of rain onto those lucky few beneath it …relief from the stifling heat and humidity associated with the late build up season…Don’t wait for it to come to you though….they are not called pulse storms for no reason…and just as quickly as it forms, it disapates…not even a drop at this location with its core within several km’s…This Magnetic termite field has no doubt scored well already this season with the plain a vibrant green glowing beneath a spectacular 30seconds of sunshine. / / – for those interested, a bit more about this photograph,my thinking and feelings about it. (taken from one of my own comments) / / This photograph like so many others of mine is born from a concept I have had for many years…for me it sums up the region beautifully and is what I’d class as iconic in some ways as I am always drawn and intrigued by the integral link between climate, topography and nature – it’s a marvellous symbiotic existance of all things being…. many trips through out these type of plains wishing or visualising, but the componants never aligning left me disatisfied with the results til now… / / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / see more of my weather related photography by clicking below / /

  • The butterflys
    by Deri Dority

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Tropical butterflys, not native to Oregon. These came from Costa Rica. Because they are not native to Oregon, they can’t release them at the end of the display. Because the Portland Zoo is not outfitted to support them year round, they destroy them when the season is over.

  • This is a ruby red lacewing butterfly, and the way it had it’s proboscis inserted into the flower made me think of that moment when we first get a nice thick milkshake, and we are sucking hard on the straw, fighting against the frozen delight to extract it’s sweet creaminess!

  • After heavy rain the falls get an impressive flow going…A majestic screw palm growing from the banks of this intermittant creek like many other plants and trees here takes this opportunity to drink up – I too take this opportunity and try to absorb all that is goign on in these beautiful ecosystems surrounding me. see more photographic works from North Qld. / Nth Qld more of my rainforest photography can be seen at / rainforests more of my waterfall related photography can be viewed at / Waterfall photography / /

  • Bay of wonder
    by Stephen Colquitt

    US$4.28–US$114.00

So this little known place is probably the closest I will ever get to tropical paradise. Its called Wayag, and is a group of Islands off the Western Coast of West Papua in Indonesia. Its quite a story about how I got here (i hope to write it up some time soon), but I want to pay full credits to my friend Simon Mammino for his assistance in getting this shot. Take a bow mate (and now get back to work).
