This lovely richly coloured sunset scene was photographed at the Cenotaph on the Town Green in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia, late on a mid-autumn day, long after a wreath laying ceremony and service to commemorate the fallen in The Battle of the Coral Sea during WWII. I was very taken by the side-lit poppies, (Papaver rhoeas – Flanders Poppy), the muted autumn sky, the light/shadow play over the column and wreaths and the mood this created to match the solemnity of what had happened here only hours before.
