  • Don’t know why, but this one is one of my favorites… I remember I thought I had been lucky to find this swimming-pool empty. Nikon d70 with Nikkor AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED

  • I often get questions about the pump house and the diving blocks at Merewether Beach so I found out a bit of info….. 1935 / At a cost of 2,600 pounds, Merewether Ocean Baths, acclaimed as the ‘largest of their kind in the State’ opened as part of the Merewether Golden Jubilee celebrations in November. There was a procession in fancy dress from the Council chambers to the baths. Considered ‘the greatest advertisement for Merewether as a residential suburb’, the new baths had been built further seaward and a little to the south of the older Merewether baths on the same rock platform. At 110 yards by 90 yards, they were ‘big enough to hold the larger swimming events’ and separated into a main pool and a children’s pool by a wide promenade. The main pool nearest the sea was 110 yards long and 55 yards wide, while the shore portion was 110 yards long and 35 yards wide. The 3,500 pounds for relief work on the baths had been paid by the NSW government. Excavation of the baths promised to yield 6,000 to 7,000 cubic yards of stone valued at 2,500 pounds. Merewether Council was seeking a further government loan to cover the construction of dressing-sheds at the baths. The new baths became central to the life of the community and prompted more people from the Lower Hunter district to visit Merewether. • This photo is taken in a wonderful hotel in Mexico. The ruins of a house has became a swimmingpool. It was fun swimming from one room too another.

  • Normally you do not get a good view of this pool. I was given a tip to hike up to a near by hill. Doing so enabled me to take this photo. The mist rising from the pool actually took on the color of the pool which you can see on the left side. This is truly one of the highlights of Yellowstone NP. • I try always to use bold colours and powerful lines but still get a harmonic symphony of colours and forms. One of a series of pool scene paintings which deal with the beauty and life of the modern day women. This one I started with acrylic on paper ( 42 cm / 60 cm ) and finished it with watercolour pencil. Finally , I’d just like to thank you anyone who’s viewed , commented and rated my work!!! • I love rainy, overcast, windy days. Someone has to, I suppose. The pink/purple of the fireweed has yet to reach its full splendor. As Alaskan legend has it, when fireweed blooms all the way to the top of its spire – the six-week countdown to winter begins. Some of us can hardly wait. It felt great to get out in the elements! • What a magical place this is Natural Bridge (also known as Natural Arch), in the World Heritage-listed, Springbrook National Park, Queensland, Australia. Over millions of years, the waters of the mountain fed Cave Creek has worn away at the basalt cave roof, to create this natural wonder. Home to a colony of glow-worms, only visible after sunset. The short hiking walk takes you through some beautiful rainforest, most of the time, you can hear the falling waters of these falls. A must see if you come to the area! Canon 50D, 14mm. Available large, and definately best viewed Large!
