by Tom GodfreyThe latest PT1 handled smoothly, although its blindingly deceptive speed was seldom apparent to the pilot. This was why, early on in the development of the Personal Transport 1, the decision had been taken to completely limit the role of the pilot, to that of an observer. Scram jet technology, used now in low-level ultra high speed craft, was potentially far too dangerous to leave the piloting to anything other than the beamed computer net, which ran all space/air traffic now. Amz smiled as she settled back for the 15 minute trip to Johannesburg. Modern Sydney was already blurring beneath her as the craft started to morph into her favourite retro shape, to match her communicator…

Emerald Paradise As Is… / Canon PowerShot S3 IS Rainbow Springs Florida’s third largest spring, Rainbow Springs pump 600 million gallons of water daily and serves as the head water to the pristine Rainbow River. The property was acquired by the State Park Service in 1990 and is slowly being allowed to revert to its natural state. / Beautiful floral gardens surround the spring, and the area is immensely popular in the spring when the azaleas are in bloom. The state also acquired Rainbow Springs State Campground, located nearby, which was formerly privately owned. From the campground, you can tube or canoe the crystalline waters of Rainbow River, or fish for large mouth bass and other freshwater species. / A nature trail provides a lovely walk past two waterfalls and the azalea gardens, and meanders along the Rainbow River. / /

A wet apple blossom, photographed in my next-door neighbor’s back yard. The translucent white petals were reflecting just enough of the available natural light onto the “heart” of the blossom to allow the shot to be possible. This shot was captured on May 2nd, 2009. It is “untouched”, just as the lens “saw” it. This macro photo was captured with a Canon EOS 10D using a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro prime lens. The shutter speed was 1/30th sec at f/16. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release. Your comments are always welcome!
