This crafty cow threaded its long horns through the barbed wire fence, got down on its knees, and munched the grass just outside its normal reach. Aren’t we a lot like that? Going through all sorts of trouble to grab “something better” when everything we need is usually right under our feet! / P.S. In case you’re wondering, I did watch as the process reversed itself and the bovine wonder gingerly manuevered its head and massive horns back through the wires, straightened its knees, and returned to home base without a hitch.

Correct, do not pass this scene without stopping for a picture or two. Just out and about, heading to a favorite tree of mine, came upon this fantastic sky. Taken with D200 and Tokina 12-24mm f/4 lens. Touch of HDR applied.

Austria / Taken from the climb up the rock that holds Hochterwitz Castle / Hochosterwitz Castle (also known as Burg Hochosterwitz) is considered to be one of Austria’s most impressive medieval castles. It is situated on a 160 m (525 ft) Dolomite rock near Sankt Georgen am Längsee, east of the town of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia. The castle can be seen from about 30 km (20 miles) away on a clear day. I spotted this rusting pickup in a field on the outskirts of Muskogee, Oklahoma last year. It was only after I’d stopped to shoot it that I realized I might be able to use the wagon wheel as a framing device. Pentax K110D, 1/350 @ F 9.5. ISO 200, 40mm

I’ve been looking through older photos and found this one of some dairy cows looking me as I took their picture out the car window. It was always so wonderful seeing these beautiful cows every time we rode by. Unfortunately, this area is now a golf course! After adding a layer of one of my textures of clouds, I liked the feeling that the cows were dreaming of greener pastures. / Taken near Penrose, North Carolina, 2006.
