  • Seville, Vic, Australia. I saw this grove of Chestnut trees on the side of the road and jumped a barbed wire fence to shoot it. It was such a surreal morning with the mist rolling through the trees. Took about a dozen shots here and stole 7 chestnuts which I had with my dinner that night. It was only after uploading this that I decided that I’m not entirely happy with it. I have about 10 different versions of it shot at different angles some of which I think are a little better.

  • Veil of Mystery Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © A stand of bare limbed trees on a gently rolling hillside emerges from the veil of an early morning fog. Gympie, Queensland. “Some might see the morning fog as a shroud of / grey that settles in their soul and stays with them / even when the sun breaks through to warm their / skin. / Others see the fog as a beautiful mist that opens / up to reveal the brightness of life and a reason to / feel good about the outside…on the inside.” / ~ Annette Hansen Veil of Mystery has been featured in the: Redbubble Homepage – December 08 Trees Group – June 08 Trees and Their Parts Group – May 09

  • It was a very wet Easter ‘08 in the Southern NSW Highlands – but all was not in vain! There was a lot of mist and rustic charm about the place. While taking this photo of the entrance to a rural property the owner suddenly materialised out of the mist and spooked the hell out of me. Thankfully he wasn’t carrying a pitchfork and didn’t seem to mind too much!

  • I was inspired this morning after reading and commenting on Julie Langford’s Post. It made me remember that sometimes the journey – the people you meet, the things you learn along the way – is more important than the destination. So despite the bitter frosty morning I rugged myself up (two thermals are better than one) and set out to greet nature and the day with Sami and my trusty tripod in tow. Turns out The Day had advance warning from Nature that I was coming (I think it was the blue wren who visits me that let the secret out)... and together they turned on an absolutely gorgeous – albeit bloody freezing – show. This is most likely the easiest image I have ever had in post production, the only enhancement it has had is a slight vignette added. For the mist gently rising off the water… the glorious colour… the frost on the reeds… the delicate reflections… the beautiful ray of illuminating light… I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Nature and The Day.
