Deep in the Otway Ranges is this great spot called Aire Crossing. A great swimming hole with a few spaces for camping tucked in around the corner of the track. / Taken Fuji S2 Pro

This was taken just near my holiday house in Marysville, Victoria, Australia. It’s such a beautiful spot that not a lot of people know about and the area especially looks great in Autumn although some rain would be most welcome! I constructed the image using HDR which is merging three different exposures into one On Saturday the 7th of February my family lost our home away from home at Marysville, as well as our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks and our Abyssinian cat. My condolences go to anyone who also lost family, friends or property on this terrible weekend, and I know deep down that Marysville will be back and better than ever, in the near future… Click here for my other images of the Yarra Ranges
From a sketch that I did, whilst i was in Australia. / From a photo of a frog that, I believe, lives in Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (Gold Coast, Australia). Painted in acrylics and mostly composed of dozens of successive ink washes. I’m rather pleased with the overall effect. I just can’t decide whether I want ot put in a background or not. What do you think?
Unfortunately this is one of the areas that was affected by “Black Saturday”, I am so hoping that this little pocket of Myrlte beech forest wasnt touched by the fires. There were fires in the Blue Range, Marysville National park. The Myrtle beech trees have been around since the Jurassic period. I stood in the river with my jeans rolled up to my knees, the water had slowed nearly to a stillness as it gathered around the rocks in the water that were covered with moss, as I hit the timer button on my camera in that 10 seconds I had time to reflect on the raw beauty of this ancient forest. The forest that stood before me was thousands of years old. It was summer out beyond these beautiful old trees it was a stinking hot day, the flies stuck to my body, I found relief in the river and under the ancient old tree. Under the ancient trees it was freezing, for some strange reason it was like the middle of winter under the trees and my feet and legs were numb from the icy water that I stood in. A little creativity and some brute strength have gone into making this seat, many years ago, situated along the track to Phantom Falls, in the Otways. Psalm 37:34 / 34 Wait on the LORD, / And keep His way, / And He shall exalt you to inherit the land; / When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
A fine of example of God’s attention to detail in Creation, found growing on a fallen log, along the track to Cora Lynn Cascades, deep in the Otway Ranges, behind Lorne.

The Rainforests of the Tarkine, some 177,000 hectares, include the largest unbroken stand of rainforest in Australia. A relic from the ancient continent, Gondwanaland, the Tarkine rainforest is one of the most significant temperate rainforests on earth. It is home to 56 threatened and endangered species, such as the Giant Freshwater Crayfish – the world’s largest freshwater invertebrate and the Tasmanian Wedge Tailed Eagle – the largest Eagle in Australia. These rainforests are recognised as being one of the most significant tracts of temperate rainforest on earth, and are under imminent threat. While logging of pure stands of rainforest is occurring in and around the periphery of the Tarkine, the logging industry is pushing the Tasmanian Government to allow logging through the heart of the Tarkine Rainforests. This would divide the rainforest and seriously fragment the Tarkine’s wilderness qualities. Information sourced from John Merory I recently had the pleasure of working with Maree Jenkins who is soon to be opening her Tarkine Wilderness Lodge in the heart of the Tarkine Rainforest. Maree shared with me her love and intense passion for this very important little corner of the world. By establishing the Lodge as a viable tourism venture Maree hopes to stave off the chainsaws and brutal machinery of the Government which threaten to steal the life breath of the forest, stripping it of its natural beauty. Save our forests. They desperately need our voice for they have no voice of their own.

I love to walk thru a forest and find all the little treasures it holds
..as you can see Otters are very playful and inquisitive creatures they live in a holt on the riverbank., they need to be protected as they are an endangered species and a very rare sight in the wild these days. ...another in my ‘Riverbank’ series inspired by the book/poem Tales of the Riverbank by Alice Oswald. ...Riverfolk ...a first digital experimental creation using Otters on a surreal setting…took a photo of the sky+colour altered it fractaliused it added the Otters/fish/ripples/graphics/trees/tooka photo of a log floating by on the river added that then lighting effects&generally tweaked all round…. / Save the Otters .....
Shot in the Bunya Mountains National Park, Queensland, Australia. this dead log was covered in Bracket Fungi. the fungi was old, and even the moss had settled in towatds the centre of the brackets.. Canon 50D, 22mm, 16:9 crop. Available Large and best viewed Large!
Here is a close up of the logs that was in my Old Road / Ecola State Park (Near Canon Beach Oregon) / One of Ecola State Park’s first attractions was a beached whale. In 1806, Capt. William Clark and twelve members of the Corps of Discovery climbed over rocky headlands and fought their way through thick shrubs and trees to get to the whale in what is now Ecola State Park. Today, a paved road from Cannon Beach makes your trek to the park much easier. Winding your way through towering Sitka spruce, you suddenly emerge upon a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean.
