Photograph “to see a video of Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole” CLICK This is a photograph I took of my youngest daughter. When my daughters were younger, we used to tell Faery stories at bed time and take turns adding to the story. The stories were very long and often times they would be very revealing, these were happy memories for us so…….. I wanted to capture what one of those characters might have looked like, she was a Tree Faery and her hair was a birds nest, egg included.

taken on a nikon d80 with kenko macro tubes & 50mm 1.4 nikkor lens ISO: 250 / f/stop: f/5.6 / shutter speed: 1/250 this shot didn’t turn out too well because i moved it, but you can see how tiny he/she still is compared to my fingers… sold a matted print to the lovely and v. talented Rhana Griffin

Found these guys too cute to not shoot, they are about 25mm (1 inch) tall, and very delicate indeed. they seem to like the mossy areas at the base of trees, alive or dead. Found these in the national park, just North of Lorne VIC, on the Great Ocean Road. Canon 50D, 400mm.

Title: Innocent Partner / Medium: Acrylic on stretched canvas / Size: 500mm x 600mm / 2nd Prize winner in the Dunedin International Airport Art Awards / Original SOLD This was a painting I recently finished. It was an art challenge held by the New Zealand Art Guild. Four things ha to be incorporated in an artwork, they were: / innocence, orange, umbrella and triangle. Here is Little Red Riding Hood (the innocent) although she doesn’t look it here…with the Big Bad Wolf who has offered her shelter under his umbrella as it has started to snow again. She is on her way to take some fruit (orange amongst them) to her elderly Grandma who lives in a cottage deep in the forest. I wanted to interpret ‘triangle’ in the three character relationship i.e. Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandma and the Big Bad Wolf. Alternatively sections of the umbrella are triangular in shape.

Top Ten in “Sunday Morning” challenge in Mood & Ambience October 18, 2009. / Featured in Live and Let Live September 22, 2009. / Featured in ! # 1 Artists of RedBubble! September 22, 2009. Best seen on full size This sweet little church, at the corner of Triadelphia and Sharp Roads in Glenelg, Maryland, stands empty. Probably built around 1900, it was most recently used as the home and studio of a local artist who has since gone to live in the sunnier climate of Mexico. Happily, the congregation of this beautiful little chapel didn’t die out, as so often happens, but instead grew too large for this structure and built a much larger church not far down the road. I was quite excited to have the opportunity to tour here July 26, 2009 when the realtor was holding an open house, as I’d driven past many times and had always wanted to investigate!! Image taken with the handheld Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens, shutter 1/250, aperture f/8.0, exp -.33, iso 500. Post work included hdr from 4 images at +3, +1, 0 and -2 evals … all duplicated and adjusted in Photoshop. Subsequent Orton technique was applied in PS, as were three textures at various blendings, and the brushed-in clouds. Included below is a capture of one of the windows in which, if you look carefully, you can see a reflection of the church bell … / which was directly behind me as I shot the window … My thanks to Princess of Shadows on Deviant Art and Ghostbones of Flickr for the great textures and to Obsidian Dawn for the cloud brushes.
