Inspired by the textures of luxury and oppulance this painting has been created using mediums ranging from acrylic, glue, inks, gold leaf, shellac, pastel and layers of various papers. Please view the large version of this painting if you have the time, I believe it shows the details and textures much better. I will be very interested in your comments as this painting presented many hurdles during the process, some mediums just don’t like working together! Pastel is not traditionally varnished, but I have defied tradition! For developement of the painting you can view my journal entry where I have uploaded a few pictures of this work in progress. Now that it is complete I will upload a few more of the stages of developement for those interested, yes BillyLee – I am thinking of you : ) Thanks for viewing and leaving your comments. Carmen : )

This creation has been inspired by the Traditional Irish Song : Skibbereen. I focused here on the old and happy times while they where living in Skibbereen, in Dear Ireland. / It’s like an instant shot of the father’s memory, when he was happy, he remembers the good days when his wife was alive. / We all have photographies of people we love. I was lucky enough to spend nearly an hour swimming alongside this juvenille green turtle (Chelonia mydas) on the fringing reef at Lady Elliott Island in the Southern part of the Great Barrier Reef. Lady Elliott is a beautiful island that is home to a wide variety of marine life and seabirds. Best of all the resort is reasonably priced fairly basic accommodation unlike most of the rest of the island resorts in the GBR. If you get the chance then Lady Elliott is well worth the trip. During my week long visit I would have seen more than >10 green turtles, hatchlings on the beach, sharks, rays, gourpers and a myriad of other reef fish. The coral reef on the other side of the island is spactacular with huge plate (Acropora sp.) corals everywhere. It is truly magic.

Acrylic On Canvas A piece that was inspired about watching Wong Kar Wai’s film In The Mood For Love, set in 60s Hong Kong. A story about forbidden love and in the story, the female and male leads shared some special moments in room 2046 – writing martial novels :D The chinese title of this movie is Hua Yang Nian Hua. The Chinese title, Huayang Nianhua (translated in the subtitles as “Full Bloom” but more accurately meaning “those wonderful varied years”), is more suggestive of period nostalgia and the Shanghai association, pointing to an iridescent, kaleidoscopic age of bygone elegance and diversity. / You can view and purchase my other “Hua Yang Nian Hua” creations from my Zazzle Gallery: / /

Ladybirds again from the Mt Burr area. More flowers taken out to them recently and they blend so well with the colours. Shot taken within the Mt Burr Forest, South East South Australia. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with three stage extension tubes.

I tweaked the colors of this image so that it works better with RB previews. Based on pictures from previous buyers I think it will print much more vibrant that the previews show. I also added a few details. This image is available as a PRINT
