This was captured after a rain storm, while we were on holidays at Lorne. The sky lit up as though it was on fire, with the clouds reflecting the late afternoon sun and the resulting water lying on the pier also mirrored the sky and the couta boat, docked there.

Mixed Media on Paper In the beginning was the three-pointed star, / One smile of light across the empty face, / One bough of bone across the rooting air, / The substance forked that marrowed the first sun, / And, burning ciphers on the round of space, / Heaven and hell mixed as they spun. In the beginning was the pale signature, / Three-syllabled and starry as the smile, / And after came the imprints on the water, / Stamp of the minted face upon the moon; / The blood that touched the crosstree and the grail / Touched the first cloud and left a sign. This 200 metre long twin bridge, spanning the Moorabool River at Fyansford, as part of the ‘Geelong Ring Road’. When completed, the Geelong Ring Road will be a freeway-standard road extending 23 kilometres along Geelong’s western outskirts from the Princes Freeway at Corio to Princes Highway at Waurn Ponds. This section is due for completion in the next few days. The Geelong Advertiser, the local paper, is running a competition to name the, as yet,unnamed bridge. / The bridge and the section of road were officially opened on the 14 Dec. 2008 and the bridge was named The Lewis Bandt Bridge after the man who designed the original “ute” or utility car in 1932, while working for the Ford Motor Co. in Geelong Pentax istDS Camera.

This song has been in my head a lot recently because of two articles I just posted in my writing pages on Artists and Abuse and Self Esteem.... / The sentiments expressed in the song tie in perfectly with both of them…Russell is a slightly surreal writer/musician, with a deep basis of truth to his songs… many of the giants of his era were in fact “linked by life and a funeral pyre”.. / I started the painting a few days ago and it grew and developed at the same time I did the editing for the articles…it is painted entirely by hand in Acrylic on Arches Not Paper….as always with my work there is no photo editing I’m up on the tightrope , one sides hate and one is hope / It’s a circus game with you and me. / I’m up on the tightwire , linked by life and the funeral pyre / But the tophat on my head is all you see. And the wire seems to be the only place for me / A comedy of errors and I’m falling / Like a rubber neck giraffe, you look into my past / Well, baby you’re just to blind to see.
