Taken on a section of the Great Wall of China between Jinshanling and Simatai. In the distance you can see the wall rising steeply up over the mountains at Simatai. This got accepted into the ADPA competition in 2007.

Other works in the Cades Cove Collection: About Cades Cove: Cades Cove (formally known as Tuckaleechee Cove) is found in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, USA. Cades Cove / was a working farm valley until the 1930’s when the National Park was formed. The Park Service has attempted to recreate the 19th century feel of this farming valley and preserve it for future generations. Before the first white settler arrived on the scene, Cades Cove had been a part of the Cherokee Indians’ domain. Abrams Creek and Abrams Falls are features named for a prominent Cherokee chief named “Old Abram” who at one time lived in a village at Chilhowee on the Little Tennessee River. According to tradition, Old Abram’s wife was named Kate, and Cades (Kate’s) Cove was named after her. Please enjoy these other images:

This easy trail, through a hemlock forest, crosses three small streams and leads behind the falls. the cool moist environment at the falls is perfect for salamanders and summer hikers. Trillium Gap Trail meanders through an old-growth hemlock forest, crosses three small streams and leads behind the 25 foot high waterfall. The cool moist environment at the falls is perfect for salamanders and summer hikers. / The hike is 3 miles roundtrip and considered moderate in difficulty. Access trail: Trillium Gap / Trailhead: From the parkway in Gatlinburg, turn at traffic light #8 and follow Historic Nature Trail into Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Take Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail (no RVs or trailers; closed in winter ) to stop #5 where there is a large parking area. The Great Blue Heron sits almost motionless, despite the raging falls. Almost unseen. Waiting. I sit waiting too, watching … these grand creatures of water and wind. Moments, hours pass. Mist from the falls graces my face. Great Blue fishes; I sit in awe and wonder from the old wooden footbridge. Flight, almost flight, colors dance against the backdrop of the water. Heron Dance. This is Grace and she lives in Tunga/Zuga Village, deep in remote Nigeria. In December 2007, I uploaded Her Photographs and since then many people in Redbubble have been touched by her Beauty and illness. Through the kindness of some here on redbubble, We were able to purchase medicines to save her life. grace was dying from intestinal worms. This is because the village has no clean water. I spoke to our Volunteer worker today who is staying in the village, and he has informed me that Grace is now making a great recovery. Praise God. There are many Like Grace who die each year in agony. We are making a difference. Please pray and help us reach many more like grace. We need your gifts. It many be money, Skills, Talent, Prayer or simply sharing our work with others.
