taken one evening (while drunk if i recall having had an extremely pleasant meal out) it seemed too good an opportunity to miss. it was taken from inside the cemetery on Barnoon Hill, St Ives and i used a nearby wall for stability (i wasn’t too drunk though, honest)
Photograph edited with Photofiltre. This cast iron angel sits about 2ft high, at the foot of an overgrown and long forgotton tombstone (circa 1800’s) in St Michael’s churchyard Madeley, Shropshire UK – eternally weeping for the occupant whose name has long since worn away. Whenever I see it, I always find it sad and a little eerie – almost expecting to see a tear slide down it’s weathered cheek….
I guess when I depart this mortal coil, I wont be as fortunate as this person to have such a beautiful final resting place. Looking East up the Western Cleddau by the ruins of the Old Church in Slebech Park.
baby love life ,,,, contimplate as i did. as i shot this i sat there

“How much of human life is lost in waiting.” / ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson Happened across this old tombstone in a mostly hidden, overgrown cemetery. The red vine growing over it looked like a lover’s embrace.

A cold winter morning drapes this cemetery in a pink mist. The fog invokes a feeling of peace.

This headless horse in Kensal Green Cemetery, NW London seems to be suspended in mid air, its legs, like its head and that of the cupid, smashed off. I thought this was so interesting… The tree grew under the tombstone and picked it up. It is symbolic of both death and rebirth. I have another shot like this from a different angle (that I took a year earlier) but there is no snow… Since winter is the seasonal version of death, I thought this one is better… :)
It being full moon, I decided to sneak into Kensal Green Cemetery in North West London. This is another shot of perhaps my favourite if all the thousands of monuments spread across 72 acres (excluding the adjacent St Mary’s Cemetery). If you like this image, “take a look at this one too – its the same monument.”: http://pauldavey.redbubble.com/sets/53811/works/2678720-3-sentinel Canon 10D / 15 sec at f14 / 15-30mm lens at 30mm / ISO 100 Adjustments in Lightroom and photoshop
