  • A serene winter still life, taken on a back road not very far from my home.

  • An IR shot of two horses. / Luckily they both stood still for the 2 sec’s I needed them to.

  • The home of cricket in dense winter fog…. now I know why cricket is a summer sport, you’d be hard pressed to face Brett Lee from the Pavillion end when you can’t even see the bowler on his approach!

  • I was snowshoeing when I found Umptanum Creek dribbling into the Yakima River and along the shores I found this one blade of grass still covered in frost among the ice and moving water, kneeling in the ice and water to get this shot which no more than 6” from top to bottom I hope was worth it!

  • Enjoy!

  • I wish you could have been with me when I took this shot. I had run out of slide film, and only had some very old and outdated negative film left in my camera bag, when I came upon this delicate, but strong blade of grass. Despite sub zero temperatures and a frigid and vicious South Dakota winter wind, this grass seemed to be stretching gracefully and hopefully towards the last rays of the winter sun before it ducked behind the trees for the night. I was amazed by the simple beauty that this single blade of grass presented to me that day. It made me remember that even when times are tough there is always a ray of hope if you search for it. It touched me in a way that I can’t put into words. This photo is dedicated to my dear friend, Barb Johnson, who we lost to cancer. She fought hard. I pray she is in a good place now.

  • I wonder if there’s a Heaven / Do the beautiful winged angels fly / Above the woods and sunlit gardens / Of their Utopia in the sky And sing with the larks in the morning / Their carols of love and of joy / Long years ago I dreamt such things of great beauty / when I was an innocent boy Back then I was nearer to Heaven / Far nearer than I am today / Since I have lost the innocence of childhood / Heaven from me seems much further away I wonder if there is a Heaven / Do birds sing on the blossoming trees / And do the rivers from their homes in the mountains / Sing their way to the Heavenly seas. crouching model by lamanouche.

  • When your day seems out of balance / And so many things go wrong / When people fight around you / And the clock drags on so long… When most folks act like children / And fill you with remorse / Go out into your pasture / Wrap your arms around your horse. His gentle breath enfolds you / As he watches with those eyes / He may not have a PhD / But he is, oh, so wise! His head rests on your shoulder / You embrace him good and tight; / He puts your world in balance / And makes it seem all right. Your tears will soon stop flowing / Then tension will be eased. / The nonsense has been lifted / You are quiet and at peace. So when you need some balance / From the stresses in your day, / The best therapy you can seek / Is out there eating hay! WJ

  • Last one from yesterdays shoot. I wanted to capture some shelf ice on Lake Michigan as it was completely frozen over as far as the eye could see. But just couldn’t find a good angle my shadow kept getting in the way LOL. So I found these trees to be so pretty amongst the beautiful dune grass and fresh fallen snow. So I worked this area for about an hour taking pictures on one tree two tree three trees different angles ect LOL. A landscape view of Its A Beautiful Winter’s Day. Not sure about the comp as my eyes are kind of all over the place but I think its a pretty picture though. Taken along the shore line of Lake Michigan, Northwest Indiana Jan of 2009. • Babu and his kitten Abu in Snow Grasses / written by May Ann Licudine Babu laid down on his soft bed and looked at the window. “No snow yet? Sigh…” Babu frowned. He fell asleep and started dreaming… In a windy foggy day, his kitten Abu invited Babu to a mysterious tall white snow grass field. Babu looked around and touched them. They felt like soft cotton. He wondered why this place was too quiet and strange. Babu didn’t understand what it meant. “Yes, it’s too calm and peaceful. This is a wishing place. You can tell them what you wish, Babu.”, said Abu gently. Babu felt a little bit scared. Abu noticed Babu’s fear. “Don’t worry, snow grasses won’t attack you, Babu. Okay, it’s time to make a wish.”, Abu said and nudged Babu. Babu smiled widely and closed his deep innocent eyes. / “I wish I could be happier… always.”, Babu thought quietly to himself. Abu read Babu’s thought and kept quiet. Babu felt something and opened his eyes. / “Hey Abu! How did you read inside my mind???” said Babu surprisingly. Abu giggled quietly and faked he didn’t know what Babu asked. Babu looked at snow grasses quickly… He was filled with excitement and amazement when bright sparkling stars appeared inside the snow grasses. “Abu… Abu… What happens to them? What do they mean?” asked Babu curiously. “Ohh, the stars are glowing…. I mean, they granted your wish.” said Abu. Babu felt touched and happy inside. “Thank you for inviting me in this beautiful wishing place, Abu. Hmmm, why don’t we stay together here for a little while before I wake up?” said Babu excitedly. Abu nodded and winked at Babu gently. They continued to travel around the grass field. The glittering stars floated away into the sky. Babu was very interested to see what the sky happened. After few minutes, the snow began to fall slowly. Babu and his kitten Abu jumped and smiled blissfully. They played with the beautiful snowflakes. Babu woke up and looked at the window… / It was snowing. - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – / Pencil Drawing / 8” x 10” / Babu and Abu characters ©May Ann Licudine / - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -

  • When I set up for this shot, I had the Eagles song of this title name pop straight into my head. I thought to myself, this is what I will name this shot. I could not hear a thing, there was not even birds chirping, no breeze, it was silence. I think I could easily get addicted to shooting in the early morning! :) Shot on the outskirts of Kilcoy, Queensland, Australia. Shot about 30 minutes after dawn. Canon 50D, 22mm, 16:9 crop. Available, and best viewed LARGE!
