Mooney Falls is a waterfall on Havasu Creek, in the northwest corner of the U.S. state of Arizona, near the town of Supai in the Havasupai Indian Reservation. It is named after prospector D. W. “James” Mooney who fell to his death trying to cross the canyon on a homemade ladder. Local Native Americans called it “Hualapai” or “Hualpai” falls. It is located about 1 kilometre downstream (i.e. to the north) of Havasu Falls, just past the large campground that lies between the two falls. Mooney Falls is accessible with considerable difficulty down a very steep trail (including two rock tunnels) that has been cut into the rock. Chains and a ladder at the bottom assist, but spray from the falls coats the dust-covered rock with water and reddish mud that makes climbing treacherous.

At the feet of Schesaplana, the highest mountain of Rätikon, Austria, and 1970 meters above sea level, Lünersee is one of the biggest natural mountain lakes of Alps. Construction works between 1920 and 1959 made it a part of a pumped storage hydroelectric scheme. The lake is accessible via a steep ascent on partially secured trail, or, comfortably, by a cable car. Its surroundings make a paradise for hikers, climbers as well as fishermen. And for photographers, of course :)

A beautifully dramatic sky hangs over Antelope Island (State Park) in the Great Salt Lake in northern Utah, USA. This fall October morning was a fantastic day to go hiking and explore the island and enjoy the solitude of nature. This outcropping of rock in the foreground was part of a peak that took some climbing to get to, but what a view of the lake and distant shores it provided!

The clouds were starting to roll in. A storm was coming and i new i did not have much time. The light through the trees was warm and cast beautiful, long shadows across the steps. I was drawn into the scene. I set up my tripod and mounted my Olympus E-410. I new i wouldn’t capture everything with just one exposure. I took five, one stop apart from each other. Here is the result after processing with Photomatix.
